Chris Stein of Blondie
Almost 40 years after forming, Blondie is still touring and releasing unique music with their classic Blondie twist. Chris Stein emailed us to tell us a bit about their new album, "Panic of Girls," what life on tour is like, and how DrumCore helped make this album come to life.
How would say "Panic of Girls" differs from your previous material?
I am too close to comment on differences, but generally, different producer, and Matt Katz-Bohens first Blondie record as keyboardist and writer.
Do you have a favorite track on this album? If so, why?
Not really. I worked really hard on the French language track though.
Do you enjoy performing live?
Live is a balancing act. For example, when we do three shows in a row, the third is sometimes a bit tiring and the tightest simultaneously.
What is the secrete to Blondie's lasting appeal?
I think the "do it yourself attitude (lack of stylists, etc)" is part of the appeal.
Did you use DrumCore for any of your demos?
You guys know I used DrumCore on almost all of my demos. I am well into the next record with it too.
How have crowds responded to your new material?
Very positive response to the new stuff, both live and the CD.
