Thanks for the fast reply. Yes this is using Rifflink.

The mute part is something I've done on 1 recording so far because I know the author and it was fairly easy to get him to do it. In the mean time I've been saving the files locally where I have the option of turning off the drummer. I was just curious if there was a way to record my part off-line then import it into a Rifflinked song. I didn't think there was.

Ron, you can export the SongLayer as a Riff and import it into a RiffLink...however...you must be the collab originator to do so, and it will replace anything that is already in the SongLayer.

I don't think they intended to make it difficult for drummers, but it used to be a lot of trouble to keep control of a collab you started. You can probably guess which things people were messing with, by what you can't do as a guest!

J.J.
In my opinion it would be nice if there were a global check box to mute the instant drummer.

This way it could only be turned off and on without affecting the tempo, style, etc. of the instant drummer the author selected. The author could simply turn it back on if they wanted, and it would allow real drums to be added without having to arrange it in advance.

I'm a new user and I'm really impressed with Rifflink so far. I'm also grateful for your help. I especially liked the link to the Gator Riffworks mixing. I learned a little from it. :)

Think of this as a suggestion if the software folks happen to read the forums.

Ron, the Sonoma folks are great at listening to suggestions and I hope they see this.

I like the suggestion quite a bit myself. Even if we're not drumming to a collab, the rest of us could benefit from being able to mute and/or non-destructively change to a different drummer to experiment with other patterns...yet keep the originator in control of the song.

RiffLink is in it's early life form, and there's been lots of debate on the subjects of control. I think you have brought a good perspective to the party!

Awesome idea and welcome aboard Ron!! Good to have a drummer here :) It's time to grow this community and bring in some new instruments and performers! Looking forward to hearing your posts....

Thanks for the kind words guys:)

Here's a song I played drums on with Sig. I'm running a set of Roland drums thru the PodXT and getting decent results. Maybe they will implement my suggestion so it will be easier to do in the future.

Hey Ron, I play drums also and was thinking of getting the new Roland TD9s. Which set are you playing? That's cool that you are getting them to work! What would you need PODXT for though? That's interesting....

Hey blue4u,

I'm using a TD6V set thru my PoDXT to record to Rifflink. I finally figured out the right settings. I use it as a pass-thru device only. I set the amp to "no amp" and turned off all effects and EQ. The song I casted earlier today has the new settings. Check out 80's again to see what it sounds like.

In the last 2 days the songlayers haven't been saving to the riff. When I return it is gone. Am I the only person having this problem? Rifflink has been a little buggy for me lately.

Hi Ron,

Are RiffLayers not saving only when working within RiffLink, or does that happen as well when working offline/locally?

As of today the stability issues, and songlayer erasures have stopped. The program is working like before the maintenance and I'm back to enjoying it again.

Great software by the way!

Please see my suggestion about the instant drummer in my previous post. Perhaps something like that could be added to a future release. :)
