I am new to the Riffworks program, and would like to start out with recording something simple like BB Kings "Thrill is gone". What drummer would I use for this, or would I have to download a different drummer.
Also, is there anyway to play the entire rhythm part of the song without looping?

OK, a lot of people have looked at this, but no replies. I am almost ready to put my first song on Riffcaster. My son and I did a version of Killing Floor. It came out pretty good! I still would like some suggestions as to what drummer, or drummers I need for slow blues songs. Can I use what is on the Riffworks program, or do I need to download one??
Also, I need to know if you can play the entire rhythm part of a song with out looping? Let me know, thanks!!

Otisray, I can't answer the drummer question off the top of my head, but if you're using v2 you can record the whole rhythm part in the SongLayer. It's a hard thing to explain but I have a little video on MySpace about the SongLayer that might help.

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=1200159124

If that link doesn't work go to http://www.myspace.com/gatorjj and click on "Videos" just under the picture of the Gator on the left.

Hope that helps,

J.J.

Theres really no way of knowing before hand if a drummer will sound good with a certain song.... what you can do is set the tempo by using the "JUNT" feature and play to the Metronome....... then try the different drummers that you have after recording to see which one is the best fit.
Some of the drummers have surprised me at different tempos!
Matt Sorums Basic was one that surprised me big time ......Bob Sweigert of Rifflink Junkies fame used it with great success in a reggae tune! Go figure, at a slower tempo........ and I thought it was a great fit...... and don't feel you have to stick with the same drummer for the whole song.....mix and match for better effect/dynamics.......hope I could be of help....and look forward to your posts.....

I have a drum loops CD that I bought off EBay, which has a ton of loops on it. Is there anyway to use it, import or transfer the loops off the CD to use in the Rifftracker program??

If there in Rex 2 format just load em in to the Rex Player.......
if there in Wav format ....you will have to use Propellerheads ReCycle to convert them to Rex2.

I found my drumloops CD, but cannot get them to open with the rex player? I do not know what format they are in, how do I tell? I also downloaded the demo version of the Propellerhead recycle program and don't know how to use it?? From what I can tell the demo version only gives you a few audio samples, and won't convert files???

I can't tell what format it is? I have a feeling it is WAV format. I bought it off Ebay from Betamonkey music. I bought it to use with another program. It says nothing on the sleeve, reciept or CD about the format, and I checked the properties by right clicking, and all it says is the amount of files and folders. There are 1000 drum loops on this CD. When I put it in the computer and go to open it up using the Riffworks load button, a little window opens and looks like it starts to load some of the file, but then there is a little flashlight going back and forth(like it is searching), and then the box closes???

Beta Monkey also has Rex format but it sounds like you have WAV files......
I have Beta Monkey's DrumWerks 1 - 5 and they kick ass .... just a little more time consuming then the instant drummer!

Can you turn me on to the free rex2 websites??
Betamonkey does have REX files, but you have to purchase, which is fine, but are there any of the riffworks drummers that will work for for my style of music, such as Funky Country, or Shuffle? I am really into SRV and would like to do my own versions of some of his songs. I am also into slow blues, what drummer, time configuration, measures, bars, etc...do I use for a slow blues tune like The Sky is crying??

Now when you download them ......remember where there at so you can point RW2 to them.... when you load them in the REX player....
I put them in my 2nd hard drive in a self made folder called ...... (Go Figure) Rex Files
