After I installed a new Instant Drummer, I get a lot of irritating stutter when I playback in RiffWorks. I have plenty of room on my HD and I defragment often... Does anyone have a suggestion what to do about this?

Peace.

Check the BPM..........if the drummer is rated for say 155 BPM and you are using 120 BPM.........that may cause the problem. Some drummers are more prone to issues with that than others.

Thanks Shred. I've noticed that with the "Barebones" but that is not the issue here - it's the whole f... track that's stuttering - not just the drums. Thanks anyway.
Peace.

Try checking that your hard drive isn't sitting in PIO mode. That will cause RW to stutter.
Cheers!

If you run the Line 6 Monkey under the 'compatability' tab it will tell you if any of your drives is running in PIO mode. It's something that Windows does on some systems if the computer has been inactive for a while.
You should have your drives running UltraDMA.

There are other threads on the forum that mention this too. You might want to have a quick search.

Having bought a new whizzy PC, the method I used on my old one to check the mode, isn't the same. I've yet to find out how to change modes manually - sorry!!
Cheers!

I have the same issues regarding this stuttering BS. I am in the process of trying to upgrade on amount of RAM I have although I am meeting the atleast 512.

If anyone know of the fix, I would be greatfull to know.

I was using under 400Mb RAM during the beta test to help see what 'minimum' really meant. Things occasionally coughed and spluttered plus everything took two or three times longer but 'stuttering' during playbacks or recording wasn't something I found specifically related to memory. Yeh, sure, it hung, it crashed, it 'hour-glassed' for ages but the PIO thing was the real culprit for me. You can find it mentioned on the Microsoft website.

Now I'm running 2Gb ... well ... "peachy" it certainly is! (as well as mangoey, apricotty and nectariney!)
Cheers!

Good to hear things went well for others.

Unfortunately I tryed to re-install the software and all is so messed up now. Riffworks Line6 Edition will not recognize the drums I purchased from Sonoma and or will it re-registered. I get more errors of all sorts now.

Back to square one for me.
