Hello to all,

Well...I have purchased Guitar Port 2.5 with RiffWorks 1.0 and that all was cool with the first few songs I made.
That has changed!
I understand that version 2.0 is out?
I went to get more drums and a page popped up stating that it was no longer supported?

I have downloaded the installer for RiffWorks 2 - Line 6 Edition and the Gear Box installer. Before I install, I will wait for a response. I do not understand what a Line 6 Monkey is and why I need it. (I Found out this is an updater for Line 6-does it update my Sonoma Works too) The Line 6 forum mentioned this forum as the place to get the definitive answers to upgrading.

In what order, if any, do I upgrade first?

I purchased this 3 weeks ago-Do I have to pay for version 2.0?

Also,
Also..here is what I have installed for drums:
- Trash Funk
- Mekanic Beats
- Afro Island Grooves
- When I Drum Around
- Habanero Groove
- Half Nelson
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this Version 2.0 already?

The program works, however, I would like more functionality. Which from all acounts seems to work.
I have:
-Windows XP Professional SP2
-1 gig RAM
-1.8 Ghz Proc

Thank you for your help in advance.

Respectfully,

Mike

I will try to help you with some of this. At present I have not downloaded Gearbox and am still using a PODxtLive (and Guitarport or Line 6 Edit software for an on screen edit).

You will want to have the Line 6 Monkey for keeping your Guitar Port up to date. It is a valuable tool for a lot of Line 6 gear.
RiffWorks version 1.1 is tied to Line 6 hardware as is the Line 6 version 2. RiffWorks version 2 Standard is not tied to Line 6 hardware.
You will need the Monkey to upgrade your GuitarPort hardware to RW L6 ver. 2 as it can only be assigned to one Line 6 piece of gear at any time.

When you install RW version 2 L6 edition......do not uninstall version 1 before hand !!! You will need it to have it still there to transfer your old drummers to a new location. (This only applies to RWver2 Line 6 edition.)

I think version 2 includes 2 new drummers..........(uh-oh.....old-tymers kickin' in)

There will soon be some others by ta help you out also with your questions.
Also....search around the forums here....tons of info and you really can find most the answers to your questions.

This is a nice community of people here...... welcome aboard

Hey Mike 2007........

It would be well worth the money to upgrade to the Standard version of RiffWorks and NOT be tied to any Line 6 device only.
I did indeed upgrade and am able to use Guitar Rig 2 , Amplitube, and tons of others along with my TonePort, formerly I had a GuitarPort......... I love Line 6 stuff but also equally love my G Rig 2...........as well as Amplitube! ...... You wouldn't be able to use these other fine products with only the Line 6 version of RiffWorks!
I hope I could be of help brother.......

If you are interested in crossgrading to RiffWorks Standard, it is only $59.99 for a limited time: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/riffworkspricing.php

Do it! Like Mike says, not being tied to Line 6 hardware takes you out of that loop although you can still use your GuitarPort with the RWStandard version. Definitely the best of both worlds!
Cheers!

Thank you to all who responded:)

Seems like I jumped the gun and installed the L6 Monkey and L6 edition of RW.

Can you say "small mushroom cloud" over the computer? License key issues, driver issues etc..

Seems like there are two distinct worlds:
RiffWorks version 1.1 is tied to Line 6 hardware as is the Line 6 version 2.
RiffWorks version 2 Standard is not tied to Line 6 hardware.
And therein lies the root of the problem!!

I will be back in a few days. Going to re-build the box and go with Guitar Port 2.5 and the new Riff Works "Standard" edition! As I understand, this "cross-grade" upgrade (for 59 bucks) should work! Thought it would be easy to upgrade (for 29 bucks at L6)
That did not work out to well!!

My most sincere thanks to the posters who have helped me.

L6 and Sonoma customer support are badly in need of "english" speaking reps, as well as documentation about the upgrade and pricing. Not really happy about additional pricing on both sides, but hey...the best thing is that I CAN talk to "Musicians" here who actually use the products!

I have already spent $168.00- Now I have to decide to spend an additional $59.00 or the L6 version for $29.00 and see which one will work once AGAIN!!

Well...one person told me this was convoluted. So very true!
See you all in a few days-going to rebuild the box and start from square one.

Thank you to all who posted in an effort to help.

Most Respectfully,

Mike
