Sorry for the el stupido questions. My setup is variax>xt live>computer, using headphones out of the xtl to monitor. My question is, the guitar input seems to clip, no matter how low the output level is on the xtl. How do I adjust this, and how do I adjust the volume of the output into the headphones, so that I can hear the guitar at sufficient volume to make my ears ring, without clipping?

I dont own the XT Live. But Im gonna guess and say make sure your running in studio direct mode and turn down the little knob on the back of the unit to prevent clipping. You may need to adjust the volume of the patches themselves. Ive read to adjust your clean patches to the loudest setting possible without clipping, and then adjust your high gain stuff to match.

Dont worry, a real xtl user will be around in no time. :)

Yeah, this was my problem...I would turn the volume down on the xtl on the back, and I couldnt hear it on the phones. This is a high gain metal patch.

There is a pad slide on the back of the XTL next to the input jack ,slide it it to pad
position, that cuts your guitar gain back a bit.If that does'nt work try cutting the channel volume back.Hope that helps!
