Hi there.

I just reinstalled Windows XP on my PC and installed Riffworks standard, when I try and launch it it asks for my sonoma key, which I enter and click activate. The screen dissapears and nothing else happens, I try launching the program again and it just does the same.

I have tried reinstalling riffworks and that doesn't fix the problem.

Is there a limit to how many times I can activate it? I am sure I have only activated it once.

Thanks

Spence

Was you online when you tried to activate ?
If not then try while online.

Sorry....I was hoping it would be something simple.
I haven't had to do it myself but I have read (somewhere in the forums) about trying to hit refresh and see if this helps activation.

Hopefully someone who knows more about this than I do will come along soon.
Also somebody from the Sonoma people should come by soon too but it might be a bit longer with it being the week-end.

I wish ya all the luck on this :)

Thanks and no problems.

I am wondering if it is something to do with Internet Explorer 7. I just have no idea how it activates, are there any services that need to be running, any settigns that need to be activated in IE, I just don't know.

Hi Spence,

RiffWorks connects directly to our servers and doesn't interact with Internet Explorer in anyway. I would make sure you add RiffWorks to your firewall's exception rules, just in case its blocking the activation request.

If you were out of activations, it would display an "Out of Activations" error.

You mentioned above that you were entering your SonomaKey when prompted to activate. Just to clarify, you need to type in your SonomaKey's password, as your SonomaKey (login name) should already be displayed in the activation form. Let us know if that's not the case.

Hi Randy,

I switched the firewall off completeley just in case and it still isn't working.

Just to confirm my username is automatically entered when I open up riffworks and I use the same password that I use to logon to these forums, is this the correct password?

Yeah, the same login and password. Can you check and see and report back as to what you have in this folder on your computer:

"C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataSonoma Wire Works"

You're using XP, right?

Thanks!
