Hello and my name is Jocko and I am from Biloxi Mississippi and before I get to my question I would like to say I own the Line6 version of your program and all things considered its a very slick programs that is "User Friendly" when it does work.
I am not being mean nor am I being nasty, make a long story even longer I have owned Riffworks for two week now and only have been able to use it for one week. With the Line6 version there is a activation phase that has to process through their equipment and that's where my problems where. I could use the program once a day basically, turn on my PodXt Live and do a refresh for the license on the Line6 Server and I would be able to use your software all I wanted too, unless I shut down the program or rebooted. Then all I received was a Activation error, contact Line6.
OK so now that issue has been resolved by canceling my activation and reissuing a new activation number. So here is my problem.
I am working on this song since 5:00 pm on Friday Dec 01, 2006, I would do a save after each time I made any changes in the song, for that "Just in case something happens". So I am going through my last edit and I am just listening to the song and playing along while I am listening to the tune. Then Riffworks starts to record while I am playing, but there is serious lag in the recording, bear in mind I did not have the Record, Arm or Single Shot Record buttons pushed at all, the software just started recording while I was playing. I tired repeatly to stop the recording, or even just stop the playback. Riffworks just continued to record, even though I was not playing my guitar any longer. After around 45 seconds of repeatly requesting Riffworks to stop what it was doing I tried to just close the program and it would not. I finally had to give the program the three finger salute (Control-Alt-Delete) this actually closed Riffworks but the computer continued to play the song. So after another 1 or 2 minutes of hitting Start > Shut Down > Restart I finally had to give the Three Finger salute again and the PC finally shut down and restarted. Once I got back into the Gui (XP Professional) I opened up Riffworks again and attempted to open that song again and Riffworks is giving me a File Format Invalid error. I searched this forum for this error and I got around 10 hits for this error. Most appear to be from when people migrated from version 1.XX to the current version. I just purchased this software and have only been on one version which is 2.0.1.2551. I tried what was suggested in those other forum threads, to include changing the extension to *.zip and so far no luck. The file/song that I am receiving the error on is the only error I am receiving now and the file is 155MB in size.
If I am unable to open this file/song back up it will not be the end of the world to me; but it does mean I have to set my amps back up because I was using my Talkbox in that song and that's the only thing I have that just can not be ran straight into my PC to record. While it is possible it just does not sound the same as a Mic'd "Talkbox"
Thank you
Jocko
