Bar length limitation really bugging me

I have been playing around with riffworks for a while and really enjoy using it but there is one limitation that is really bugging me.

Once you set the bar length it can't be changed. So, if you record a number of riffs using say a 4 bar length you can't then create just a 2 bar riff. Is this correct?

So how do you all for example work around this for a two bar bridge or turnaround?

Any ideas?

If I understand your question, all you have to do is create a new riff and set the bar length to 2. That is all there is to it. It sounds like you are trying to create a 2 bar layer in a 4 bar riff. Hope that makes sense.

Have I been really stupid all this time? Can you change the length for each individual riff within a song? I thought that once you record one riff it locks the tempo and bar length for all riff within that song?

You are correct, once you record a riff the length and tempo is locked for that riff. But you can create a new riff with different length. I have never changed the tempo, but I don't see why you couldn't.

I have, a couple of times, made riffs with double time signature to make some beefy rythmic change. Say, If you have a slow drum pattern in a riff with 4 bars going 80 BPM. Then you create a new riff with 8 bars at 160 BPM. This won't make any speed-up in the overall pattern, but can create some interesting results. You can't "Mix to riff" if you do so, though.

A piano has about 7.500 moving parts - that's why I play the guitar...

sisnootles,

the tempo, time sig and bar length values in a riff are locked in two ways

1. if you record a layer in a riff
2. if you drag the riff to the song line (with or without a layer already recorded)

You can readjust the tempo, time sig or bar length by deleting all layers from a riff and making sure it's not in the song line.

If you create riffs with different tempos you cannot mix them as a song from the song bar if I remeber correctly.
