I recommend the crossgrade as well – it cost $70 but in the long run should pay dividends. It may look and act the same but will in fact, it will interact more seamlessly with other devices.
That noted, I must admit to being frustrated by one part of the process. It takes too long to retrieve the previously purchased instant drummers installed in the Line 6 version! You can’t just relocate them yourself – Sonoma Wire Works (SWW) must make them available to you for downloading from your SWW account.
The process is a bit clumsy and time-consuming because you have to take screenshots of the Line 6 monkey showing your previously purchased drummers and then submit them, along with other documentation, to SWW through their support engine known as FogBugz.
I like everything about SWW except FogBugz. FogBugz has left some of us in the fog by forcing us to wait endlessly for a response. I only had to wait a week for my drummers but others wait longer. Sonoma Wire Works would do well to get rid of this support system altogether.
In the meantime, at least you have the drummers that come free with the program.
So, why am I going on about this after recommending the crossgrade? Because I have encouraged others to make the move, thus my reputation is on the line, and they too have been fogged-in by FogBugz.
So yes, go ahead and make the move but don’t uninstall the Line 6 version until you can download you previously purchased drummers.
Finally, if you are going to crossgrade (as you noted above) do it before the price increase.
