Jisg: Unfortunately, I own a GuitarPort instead of a POD XT (although seriously considering one). Therefore, I don’t have the control panel with the Re-amp feature.

epauley -

Well...
Like GuitarSlinger points out, I don't think I gave you useful information for use with RiffWorks anyway. I can't remember that anyone here has said it works with SSW's invention.
But I wanted you to know the Line6 formula to get it to work with their hard/software since you asked about if you were "missing a trick".

Jisg: Nonetheless, I appreciate the effort and comments from you and GuitarSlinger - as well as others above. And that “trick” you suggested might come in handy when I get the POD.

By the way, Line 6 has just posted a GearBox plug-in download that allows post-recording tweaking and more.

Their ad states:

Seamlessly integrate the tone you already own into your recording application so you can:
• Run multiple amps and effects across several tracks at once, or stack
multiple rigs on a single track
• Change your sound after it has been recorded
• Use as post effects for vocals, keyboards, and more while mixing
• Tweak parameters in real time as the track plays with MIDI automation

Unfortunately, this GearBox plug-in download cost $199.99

yeah - epauley
I received that email this morning also.

Seamlessly integrate the tone you already own = cost $199.99.

is this an oxymoron?

However, I would like to get a cheap expansion pack of just their pre-amps for the XTL if they could make that possible. I would like to run my GR-20 and Variax acoustics through that for grins and giggles.

jisg,

Line 6 (L6) is a good company but I can’t always follow their logic. Obviously, L6 would benefit financially by offering more expansion packs. The reason for not doing so doesn’t always seem to be a given device’s technology.

For example, this year I beefed-up my GuitarPort by adding the Power and Bass expansion packs which were unavailable at one time –together, both cost the same price as the GearBox plug-in!

Perhaps by offering all packs, they feel they would lessen the value of their more expensive devices? I also own the PODxt and admittedly, would probably resent others getting similar technology at a better price.

On another note, other members might have noticed that my avatar has been changing. I’ve been tweaking it using Photoshop. It’s improving but is TOO LOUD – but someone has to compete with mickeymix’s purple tele and birthday suit – not that jisg’s is all that subtle. :D

who wants subtle? I used Illustrator. and I'm keeping my clothes on for this forum.

My XTL is also maxed out with all the packs, that's why I feel something's missing without the pre-amps.I'd pay $25 for a small expansion pack for those.
Back to the original topic, now that you told us you had the XT you could do that re-amp thing - with another recording program of course. You should have the POD console with that and use GB.
I would think you could do stuff like the vetta with double tracking - dual amps, paned right/left and some other cool stuff.

jisg,

In terms of computer generated sound, most of my experience is with GuitarPort and RiffWorks via GearBox.

Just got the PODxt - right after ordering an Atomic 112/50W amp, which is being shipped tomorrow. So, I am in the learning curve mode with POD.

Saw your response to the bass expansion pack thread over at line 6 forum.

Obviously, the original intent of this thread has been lost but the last responses have been a hoot. Add to that, sobert’s question actually got answered in a round-about way.

Of course, based on this last response, I guess the last part of the subject line (“…adding effects later”) still applies.

Very surprising that mickeymix has resisted responding. He must have an iron will.

It's the ultimate honor to collaborate with Mickeymix! Sometimes he gets so carried away (especially with that new mic of his) that he, shall we say...loses his head?

It's as close as I'm gonna get to that beloved purple Tele of his!
