Im constantly seeing a need for changing drum beats after I record a regular riff.
Sometimes Ill change from theInstant drummer to a rex file... The problem surfaces when I want to add a fill into the riff. It seems obvious that we need some alternate way to change the number and length of rex files within a given riff after its recorded.. This would give us some much needed flexibility to compare and change stuff on the fly without always having to unload the whole song bar so we can mix 2 or several rexfiles to a riff, and then on top of it all, having to re-record again...

Hopefully you guys can work this into the upcoming update.

It looks like Im not the only one wishing for some new features...
Can someone address this? Is there a plan in motion to come up with a fix?

I do not think it as easy to "patch" as you may think. The features we are talking about here are a little more complex to have implemented. You have to remember RW is indeed a great program, but with the ease of use comes limitations. Some are easily overcome, others not so much.

The purists will tell you are trying to get too much from this program, and if you desire that kind of functionality you should go with a more traditional DAW. That being said I have tried others, and came back to RW due to the fact it is so easy to use.

I can tell you that not everyone will satisfied with RW, but I have faith the Sonoma folks do listen and will improve the product as we go forward. But right now I can't see them fixing this in the near future....maybe in a future full version update. I have tried other go arounds and combinations of programs like Reason used as a rewire device. If you are really serious about getting the most out this program you will undoubtedly have to add something like Reason or Fruity Loops to get the kind of flexibility you are looking for. Or you can try Recycle which is an amazing tool to work with and create/modify loops.

Let me know if you are interested in, need any help with any of those proggys and I will do what i can to assist ya!

The Purists?? Who are they?

Thanks for your tips about using reason and recycle to add flexibility.. Ive actually just begun to use both,, and they seem promising. The idea for structuring the length and number of REX files in an already recorded RIFF is not affected by these programs though( as cool as they are). I see the solution solution coming from within Riffworks platform.

I dont know a thing about programming so I dont know how hard or easy it would be.

Riffworks is great, like you said but Im not really willing to accept this limit as part of the package. I did work on the SWW beta team, so I have seen how capable the engineers are at programming new features. I dont have any doubts about it whatsoever. To me, since there wouldnt be a change of tempo in the riff or rex... just reallocation of the measurement of the riff into 2 or more pieces where you could add rex drums and stuff... Seems kinda simple compared to some of the other stuff theyve fixed.

When it comes to software........as you can see from these forums and the problems people have...........nothing is ever simple.

I think recycle is a really great proggy..........it may really help ya alot..........I would be curious to hear what you think of both Reason and Recycle once you get using them more.

Id like to know from someone at SWW whether they will be fixing the rex system to allow some after recording adjustments to the number and length of the Rex files you're using. Is it gonna happen??
