I have a Zoom Mrt-3b drum machine. Is it possible to send a midi signal to it from riffworks using rewire or some other feature so that I can sync it up with the loops I'm creating in RW? If so, would one of those USB to midi converters work?

I'm new at this so I appreciate you patience if these are stupid questions. I bought RW because I can't stand spending all of my time learning how to use a program.

Also, can anyone recommend any more software apps that are easy to use like riffworks that are capable of decent piano sounds via a midi controller i.e. KB37? Reason is out because it's too pricey any I don't have time to learn it.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,

This is what you have, right? http://www.zzounds.com/item--ZOMMRT3

I think the only way you could get that to work with RiffWorks would be to use the STEREO or MONO outputs of the Zoom and run into the input of your audio interface device. Syncing would be a bit of a chore, but I'm sure you could time it pretty well just by listening.

There isn't a MIDI - USB solution that would work in this situation. The drum machine isn't an audio interface device, so it has to be an instrument that has to be run through an audio interface device.

EVM Synths Grand Piano - http://www.evmsynths.com/free.htm

&

Chainer - http://www.xlutop.com/html/chainer.html

You could get a good sounding VST piano for free by using these two programs. The catch is you will need a second computer to run them off of then output it to Riffworks. If you have a second computer this would be a cheap (free) way to get good piano sound into RW. I know it's not the best answer, just trying to help.
