It sounds like the remix might have a bit too much compression. It sounds like the dynamics have been knocked done some compred to the 1st version. I would back off on the compression some.
Guitar tone is sharp in both mixes so I would try some chorusing or something similar to smooth it out. The drums in both mixes are too low. The growl in this tune demands an in-your-face drum style with the snare poppin' ya right in the mouth. You might play with EQing the drums (in RiffWorks) to bring them out in the mix.
You certainly have a big enough sound and the texture is there. Bass is better in 2nd mix but almost too noticeable. I'm not sure the tone for the bass fits the mood. I might play with distorting it a bit. You can use the RiffWorks effect for that and distort individual frequencies. Give it a bit more sass and attitude.
I'd make all of these adjustments subtle. Don't boost anything more than +/- 3dB. Nothing too drastic.
Let us know what you come up with...
Peace, Rich

OK, remixed the remix, use the original remix link to check it out.
Brought the drums up in the mix (harder than HELL for me to do, as some know :p ) & added some bottom end. Didn't do much to the guitars, just brought the mids back up a touch. With the bass, I brought the mids down some, added some bass, & turned the overall level down.
Ugh. This is why I'm a guitarist, & not an engineer.
There it is. Nice 2 things I might tweak for effect (just to see what you get):
1. Less reverb on the snare. Give the whole drum sound a little more snap. Not sure which frequencies I'd cut/boost but you'll know it when ya got it.
2. Try a different tone setting with the same guitar riff dead center on the guitar track. This in addition to the other tracks. Dial down the volume on the dub and use it only for texture. So, it wouldn't be noticable. Something to thicken it up even more. It's crying for that over-the-top BIG sound!
