Not that dumb of a question. If you're on a PC, Riffworks uses the available ASIO driver. Most built in sound cards don't use an ASIO driver, but a DirectX or MME driver. RiffWorks does not support those. So, there is some kind of software out there that will install an ASIO driver for any built in sound card. Sonoma Wire Works does not officially support it if there's a problem, (they won't help you to get it to work), but it should function just fine.
That program is called ASIO4ALL, and there may be others out there.
If you are on a mac, you should be able to click audio setup on the lower right side of the RiffWorks and select the built in audio selection. Macs use the OSX CoreAudio driver for everything. Built in sound cards and external audio interfaces, which is nice.
