I upgraded from Windows xp to Vista Premium (32 bit) and am having a problem. My GuitarPort, PODxt and Gearbox all have the new L6 Vista software.

The GuitarPort now responds the way it always has and you can hear the Guitar and backups (i.e., Instant Drummers) simultaneously through the computer speakers. Of course, you must choose the ASIO GuitarPort within the Audio Setup.

Unfortunately, I can’t hear the backups in RiffWorks Standard through the headphones when playing the PODxt – even after selecting ASIO PODxt in the RWS’s Audio Setup. However, the guitar comes through loud and clear.

Anyone have a solution?

Hi Ed......same here. Don't have Vista. If I ever do switch to it I'd set up a seperate partition to test it with.

Good luck

I dislike submitting the solution to my own query but it might help someone else.

Anyway, even though the L6 Monkey indicated that both devices (GuitarPort and PODxt) were up-to-date with new Vista compatible drivers, things weren’t behaving as they should (see my original question at the top of this thread).

Fortunately, it turns out you have to update the drivers on both devices separately despite what the L6 Monkey signifies. Hey, that's funny if you've ever heard the expression "signified monkey."

I did so and things seem to be working well so far. :)

It been tough upgrading to Vista and if I had a choice now would choose not to do so. However, its early in the game and perhaps I will change my mind.

According to the Windows Vista online FAQ, you can’t do a separate partition with Vista.

Also, ea games for the PC currently DO NOT work with Vista. Try giving your kids that bit of news! :(

I had the same problem with XP when it came out.....no sound drivers that worked.....all the EA games did not work........what a pain in the a$$.

I had Win 98 and XP in separate partitions for almost a year after the release of XP just to keep everything a float. I swore I would never get a new o/s or upgrade my current one until a full year after it is released.

I am glad to hear you got it all sorted out.....the new update fro GB and the drivers was weird when it came to installation. Funny they can't sort that out regarding the drivers........but they do tell you to not plug in the device until after the installation is complete. So I guess it does need to find each device seperately.....always a wrinkle....:)

Hi ShredRex: I knew better than to upgrade to Vista at this time but ignored my gut feelings – always a mistake!

I did follow the instructions regarding unplugging and plugging the USB cable. However, I failed to update the driver to the PODxt after I updated the GuitarPort driver because the L6 Monkey indicated that it was updated.

Therefore, despite the correct driver being installed for both devices (the same one works for both) - it didn’t setup right for the PODxt until I downloaded the driver for each device separately.
