Ok i bought riffworks 2 line 6 edition 2 months ago

I'm using guitarport to plug my guitar into the computer

after about 10 minutes of recording on riffworks

it gets extremely slow

Im running a Pentium 4 with 768 MB of RAM

and im sure its because of cpu usage

I have been running both riffworks and guitarport at the same time and its whats using up all my cpu usage

I am wondering if there is some other way to record through guitarport without having it run in the background or if there was some way to make it take up less cpu usage

also i have gearbox software but i dont use it

would using gearbox instead of guitarport take up less cpu usage?

thanks,

Josh

Hi Josh and welcome to the RiffWorks forum,

I suspect your main problem here is lack of RAM. Sonoma are suggesting 1Gb as a minimum spec.

As regards running apps, you need to have GuitarPort/GearBox running separately but concurrently with RiffWorks - unlike the previous version where GP and RW were integrated.
GearBox3.0 is a software replacement for GuitarPort's software and I suggest you ditch GuitarPort 2.51 in favour of it. It does exactly the same thing as GP, looks the same but has more up to date drivers and compatability with the likes of TonePort.

Hope this helps.
Cheers!
Scott

get the new monkey 1.16 and gearbox 3.10 from line 6 downloads[free] check your drivers up to date also.you need to get a 1gb stick for your ram and it will run smoother than ever.crucial.com will tell you how to do this on their website.ive done mine recently and its so much better.good luck.
