Hello dudes!

I really need help with my RW. I have tried to get my midikeyboard (Midistart-2) to work with my Reason 3.0.

The problem is this: When I choose a new track in RW and then start up my Reason everything is working fine, I have signal & sound from both RW & Reason.

then i add a grand piano to my new track and checking the input signal and gain output in RW everything looks O.K i start RW in record mode and playing some tunes.. but here is the problem nothing is recording..

When i Choose Rewire in RW I have good signal and also to midioutput in Reason i have output Rewire slavemode.

Please help me

would be so glad if someone could help me :-)

My gear settings is: Toneport UX2 & Reason 3.0

Midikeyboard ( Midistart-2 USB )

Best Regards ProjectX / Andi

my understanding is that you can't actually record Rewire audio into Riffworks--Rewire does not show up as an Input Source for layers--BUT the audio from Reason is there when you Mix. the problem that i see with this--and i'm not an expert at Reason OR Riffworks--is how do you get Reason to work with the Riff philosophy? from screwing around with it for a little while it seems like Reason as a Backup only plays the current X-number of bars (X=riff length) therefore you couldn't, for example, record one piano track in Reason for Riff 1 then switch to another track for Riff 2. what happens is that the same X-bar Reason pattern plays regardless of the active riff. i tried creating a second project in Reason hoping that RW would somehow know to switch between projects as the Riffs change--ultimately i think that's what would have to be done to make this work seamlessly--but it's seems like a no-go for now.

the workarounds that i can think of: 1. create a single Riff that is the length of the song. This should allow you to take advantage of Reason Automation. of course you loose your ability to use Instant Drummer. 2. Plan on using Reason for 1 riff per song.

Oh, i should mention that i'm using Reason Adapted but my feeling is that you'll run across the same limitations with full Reason as well.

Open RiffWorks and then Reason. Reason will be Rewired to RW.
Now....lets say you have a 8 bar riff in RW. In Reason it will probably show the first 8 bars looped off in the sequencer window. Now lets create another 8 bar loop in RW.
In the Reason window the looped area will still be that first 8 bars. Drags the left pointer to move that loop to the next 8 bar area. After doing that play that 2nd RW loop and the new area in Reason will now loop and Reason will then remember that this area of the sequencer window will corespond to the 2nd loop in RW.
