Hi Bob, Welcome to the RiffWorks forum!
Two possible ways of trying to achieve your goal.
1a. You need to set your bar length to a number that suits the length of the whole song
1b. Hit 'record' and lay down the layer you'll use as your backing track
1c. As soon the recording session reaches the end of the last bar it will automatically loop back and start again where you have to be ready to solo your socks off
1d. Make sure the automute and the one shot record buttons are off BTW
2a. With RiffWorks Standard you can use what is called the 'Song Layer' to lay down anything (usually vocals or solos) across a whole song. It works by you recording 'riffs' and arranging them in the 'Song Line'. Each 'riff' is a chunk of your song (maybe a verse, a chorus, an intro/outro, a bridge etc) and after you piece them together, you make up your song. The 'song layer' allows you to record right across all of these riffs including the areas where they join together, giving a seamless recording session). Is this making any sense??
b. So, record your backing track in little chunks (if you need more details, just ask!), move these chunks (called riffs) to the songline.
c. Click on the 'song layer' area, press record and solo your way over all your backing riffs.
I promise you, once you've done it, it will be much easier than me trying to write it down, not knowing just how much you know about RiffWorks.
