Well i had borrowed this mic from my friend because i wanted to get crisp clean recording vocals and acoustic guitars. So i plugged it into my guitarport. the problem is that it wont power up. Afterwards, i recalled bak in the past i read that these mics need phantom power or something i dont know. Wat i wanna know is how can i power up this sucker. i know GP wont be able to do it. do i need to buy a mixer?!

What you need is a preamp with phantom power unles you can find a mixer with phantom power. I use condensor mics with my Line 6 Toneport Ux2.. The work very well..

Yo DM ....when I had GuitarPort ....this is what I used for phantom power..
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-MIC200-Tube-Ultra-Gain-Preamp?sku=182491
great bargain for the bucks 49.99 works good for regular dynamic (Shure SM 57/58 types)mics also to get that tube warmth in your vox ....
I've since upgraded to TonePort but still have the Behringer for different tones and such....

Hey Micky thanks for that I was looking for a preamp myself for guitar though not mics!

As far as the toneport if you want to go that route you would need the Ux2 model.. The Ux1 doesn't have phantom power. But if you don't want all the features of the Toneport I would definately go with Micky's idea!

The UX2 is the Shizmizit Bom-Bigittey.....well worth the moolah for the upgrade to phantom power!
Plus you can probably sell your GuitarPort on E-Bay and get some of your hard earned cash back to put towards the TonePort.
