I am pretty confused regarding GP 2.5 amps/fxs, GearWorks amps/fxs, RW2 amps/fxs, and which of these prevail, or survive or die quick death in RW2 world.

I have GP 2.5 and RW1 for Line6. What is the bare minimum stuff I need to use stand alone RW2 with my GP hardware?

Will my songs/riffs, including original fxs used, survive? GP 2.5 sw out the window?

You need to decide whether you want to go down the route of upgrading to the Line 6 version of RiffWorks 2.1, or go across to RiffWorks 2.1 Standard.

As regards your GP, you should download the Line6 Monkey which will tell you everything you need to know about what you have that's up to date. GP2.5 has been superceded by GearBox 3.1. Looks and feels the same, just more up to date and access to more amp settings.

Yes, RiffWorks Version 1 riffs and songs are forward compatible.
