Do you mean RiffWorks v1 with GuitarPort? You don't need to keep them if you don't want to.

cheers,

Dug, I see where Riffworks Version 1 takes up about 500mb of hard drive space, as does Riffworks V2 Line 6 Edition. So what you're saying is that it's okay for me to uninstall version one (I use Guitar Port hardware) because I technically don't need it now and could free up 500mb of hard drive space? Is there anything I need to know before doing the uninstall? Maybe any issues I'll run into AFTER V1 is gone? Thanks!

There shouldn't be any major issues. A few of us were running v1 and v2 (when it was in beta testing). I think most of us have now removed v1 and happily use RWS on a regular basis.
Cheers!

The only thing that worried me is that I'm not using RWS...I'm using the Version 2/Line 6 Edition. I'm assuming there'd be no difference as long as I copied my Riffworks files (songs) into the appropriate V2/Line 6 Edition folder.

Hi Wes,

The songs won't be erased. I do recommend copying any add-on InstantDrummer files you may have purchased to a safe location if you haven't already installed RiffWorks V2. The drummers are located in C:Program FilesLine 6RiffWorksResourcesDrummers

Thanks, Randy...I went ahead and copied the "drums" folder to my desktop, just in case something whacky happens when I uninstall version 1 of RiffWorks. I already have RW2/Line 6 Edition installed on my pc, so I'm probably just being overly cautious:)

You should be all set then! Feel free to move your songs and presets over as well.

Have fun!

Randy, I feel a little sick. I already had installed Riffworks V2 - Line 6 Edition a couple of months ago. I uninstalled Version 1 last night. Now, I can't find some of my songs...I even used the "search" function of my pc. Here's what I mean. I had a tune called "Growl" that was just some basic chords, etc and one lead guitar part. I went back and recorded 2 more leads and re-saved as a different file named "Growl 2". I've never had problems finding it, as it was in the EXACT SAME drop-down list when I hit the "Open" button in RW. Now, "Growl" is still there, but "Growl 2" is gone and my pc's search feature isn't finding it when it searches my whole C: drive. I think I'm going to puke. I worked forever on those extra 2 leads and it's hard telling what OTHER tunes are gone that aren't right on top of my head. Any ideas?

Here's the really odd thing....I had tunes from RiffWorks version 1 (.rws files) along with 2 tunes I had recorded using RiffWorks V2 - Line 6 Edition in the same folder together for easy choosing when I wanted to "open" a project. I uninstall RW Version ONE, and what does the program do? IT DELETES THE 2 SONGS I RECORDED WITH VERSION 2 - LINE 6 EDITION! Now how does that make any sense? Why wouldn't it have deleted songs I recorded with RW version 1 if I was uninstalling version 1????

Wes,

I'm sorry the songs are gone, and it doesn't make any sense for them to have been deleted unless you saved them in the RiffWorks 1 program directory. By default they would have been saved in My DocumentsSonoma Wire WorksRiffWorksSongs

Where are you songs saved?

When I look in the location you indicated, the folder is there, but it's empty. My songs are located in C:Program FilesSonoma Wire WorksRiffWorks Line 6 Edition

Wes

p.s. My tune "Growl V2" was in that same location, but was deleted during the uninstall along with another tune I called "Drop-D Idea". Both are gone...I had my pc search ANY file with the word "Growl" in it and it only finds my "Growl V1" that was done with RiffWorks version 1.

So are you saying that some of the songs in that folder were deleted, but not all?

If your songs were being saved in C:Program FilesSonoma Wire WorksRiffWorks Line 6 Edition, then that's something you set up. That's not the default location and there really wasn't any way for me to have known you were saving the songs in the program directory. That sucks. Sorry.

Yo Wes ....try as program called File Scavenger to find already deleted programs on your hard Drive.... I've had success with it. I'll look for a link
............I have the program and could maybe YouSendIt if it's not too big.......
Here it is.
