Wes, at the risk of duplicate posting, what I do is record the track again, then crossfade the good parts.

Gotcha...I think the only question I had (I posted a response in the other thread before you posted this) was that your 2.2 layer has no sound waves until about the middle of the recording. I was just wondering where it went...or if you used 2.1 as a Lead In and waited til the middle of the recording and started recording again. Thanks, man! I'm an idiot when it comes to this but I promise to figure it out!:)

I'll just respond here!

Likely I recorded that 2.1 layer and botched something in the middle. So I recorded the "offending part" better in 2.2, but started playing right before the part I screwed up. Then I used the "info" lines to crossfade between them, and when it played back you couldn't tell, as it sounded like I nailed it in one shot!

I can see where it might be confusing as I just started playing in the middle of the riff, since the first half was already good. You could record over the whole thing to the same effect. You could also record 3 or 4 tracks and pick the best parts of each to make it sound like 1 killer layer.

Powerful stuff once you understand it!

Wow, thanks for the detailed response! That's what I was HOPING you did;) I didn't know you could do that with Riffworks which might have been one of only 2 issues I had with the software...and you fixed my OTHER one too!:) I guess this is kind of like "punching in and out" like I would do with my Cakewalk software I use. Glad you explained that to me...now I know what to do!:) Gator B Da Man!:)

EXACTLY (or as Charlie Brown screamed to Lucy said in "A Charlie Brown Christmas" THAT'S IT! :) )

I've been meaning to make little videos on some of the new things that came with v2 but never get around to it. I think a few of these things (Songlayers, info, eq) are tremendously useful but not easy to understand in text explanations. I did a rough one on songlayer on MySpace but never seem to find time for the others! Oh well maybe someday...

Sorry, had to quote that....even Gators have egos! lol

Well, get to work then, young man!:) I wish I knew of some really well-schooled RiffWorks people that lived near me so I could get some hands-on help, but alas I live in southern Indiana...the black hole of the music world...but at least I'm not in Kentucky...I don't think my sister would have married me anyways! hahahahahahaha That was a joke, people....No, REALLY!!!;)

And just so you know how many times I've listened to that original track of "Walking By Myself" by Gary Moore, let me put it into perspective for you....

I have a son that turns 2 years old next month. He is enamored with guitar, so he has a "Backyardigans" guitar (Nick Jr. TV show) and also has a cheapie, 4 string plastic stringed acoustic. He always brings his acoustic into my room and is holding it backwards...with the strings against his chest. And he does this on purpose, just so when he says "Like dat, Daddy?", I'll say "Noooooooooo!"...then he'll hold the guitar neck under his right arm with the body all the way off his side and say "Like dat, Daddy?"....I get a kick out of how he tries to work me over.

But one thing is for certain, and I'm not joking when I say this....he's not even 2 yet and he knows EVERY WORD to that tune. I used to think he was just overly affectionate when he'd come into my room and say "You know I love you, Daddy?"...and it would make feel like a king. Then I realized what he was wanting was for me to play "Walking By Myself", where "You know I love you...You know it's true" is the first line. I figured out he's not as affectionate as I'd hoped! lol

Mickey, thanks so much! I emailed ya back. Had no idea that tune was even a cover. And honestly, I had never really listened to Gary Moore much EVER except for maybe his main tune "Still Got the Blues". But I downloaded one of his albums and "Walking By Myself" was the first tune on it. Killer tune. Thanks for the help!:)

Wes

I love listening to Gary Moore play. And I can't wait to hear your rendition of Walking.

Here is an example of one of my attempts at using a backing track http://www.sonomawireworks.com/riffcaster/post.php?/2226

It was before I knew about how to remove bad notes so you get to hear them all.
