hi everybody Newbie here. I've just joined the Riffworks fraternity, hoping to use Riffworks as a Rewire host to Ableton Live Slave to get a mega live-Looping set going. However Riffworks only seems to work as a Host{is this right}, and when Ableton {for instance} loads it disables all VST plug-ins. Am I doing something wrong?
Also I read that Guitar rig could be used as an input for Riffworks. How?
Many thanks for help.

Hello Oakbloke,

You are correct. RiffWorks version 2.1 runs only as a Rewire Host never as a slave. So you'll have to launch RiffWorks first, and then run Ableton Live.

I also just tried this myself, and you are correct again. Apparently, Ableton Live disables plugins when running in ReWire Slave mode. It does not do this when running as a rewire host.

You can use VST plugins in RiffWorks for amp modeling. RiffWorks comes with Amplitube Live 2. You can also use products from Line 6 and Native Instruments.

At the bottom of RiffWorks is a monitor section with two buttons: Hardware and Effects. If you disable the Hardware button by clicking on it, you can monitor through RiffWorks. Click on Effects to activate monitoring through effects. You must turn off Hardware mode before you can turn on Effects.

When you click on Effects, the Effects panel will pop up, and at the top left of this panel is the Amp effect which loads your VST amp modeling plugins. Click there, and you will be given a drop down menu for all the VST plugins you have installed on your computer. Select Guitar Rig and click in the check box.

You may need to adjust the buffer settings of your audio interface to compensate for the latency of the plugin. You can find your audio settings by clicking on the Audio Setup button in the lower right hand corner of RiffWorks.

Hope this helps.
