When I record a riff on guitar, and the measures stop and riffworks takes over and loops what I just played, the sound is noticeably worse. Like it's got WAY too much compression across the main outs or something. I can't find where it would be adjusted, but am I alone?

With my Mac Pro and MOTU 828MKII firewire audio interface, I think it sounds pretty darn good. With my old Powerbook G4 1.25 ghz (which is below the program's 1.33 ghz minimum requirements) and the same audio interface, it hitched a bit between loop loading when playing back a song but I still thought it sounded good. Actually, I only thought it sounded poor on my Windows PC when I was using an E-MU 404 sound card. Now RW sounds much better on the PC with an M-BOX USB interface (but I haven't recorded with the M-Box yet, only played back, and I understand it has some pretty bad latency).

So I think it could have to do with your gear. What Mac and what audio interface are you using?

macbook, and 828mkII interface. The quality of audio is okay, but I can hear compression pumping like artifacts. I read somewhere that there is a master limiter or something on the main outputs, but in the demo, I can't get to them to shut them off. Do you have a compressor something that you have shut off?

Hello Synterx,

There is a main limiter/compressor across the main outputs. There is no direct shut off switch, but you can bypass the compressor/limiter on the output by turning down your master gain knob at the top of the RiffWorks window. This will lower your overall output volume from RiffWorks so you may want to turn up the main volume knob on your 828mkII.

Also, if you're recording your levels too hot, they will be limited as they are recorded. You may want to lower the trim/gain pot on your 828mkII so you're not recording such a hot level.

Hope this helps.
