Is there anyone out there using riffoworks and ez drummer? I have tried it with live lite 6 but it doesn't seem to rewire in slave mode, everything else fine. I have had a quick try with reaper and it doesn't seem to like ez drummer much and again wouldn't rewire in slave mode.

I have found that live lite 4 works fine in rewire but unfortunately doesn't support drag and drop so the only thing I can think of is make the drum patterns in live 6 and run them as wave files in live 4. Anyone out there running ez drummer with riffworks?

Hmmm Kinda, but I'm going to caution you from trying it because you can make your computer crash quite nice doing it. If you wanna try. Download the chainer, Load it up in Riffworks. Then from inside the chainer load up EZ Drummer. Open EZ drummer (it defaults at 120BPM) Pick your favorite midi file and start it playing. Then using record on Riffworks. Press record trying to line up the start of the midi drum loop with the start of the metronome and if your lucky (3 out of 10 times) your first layer is a drum loop recorded into RW. I know it's not much help ;) The down side of this is that you can only go 120BPM because RIffworks does not send temp information to the VST section. Oh, and you will most likely want to eat the closest gun after using it this way for about an hour.
On that note I wish RW sent midi tempo and Start / Stop data to the VST section cause you could use this great VST called Jamstix. Jamstix is kinda like an instant drummer that plays along with an Audio or Midi signal. It works well and is not to pricey. It can also nest EZ drummer and use the sounds from that VST as well

Hope that helps a little bit,

Marty

Hello Mkolak

I persisted and it's finally working great, my main problem is that I couldn't get live lite 6 into rewire slave mode but I found by turning it to demo mode the rewire function works the only downside being that you can't save changes in the program. But if you make all your clips and all your drum loops and fills in the arrange run from the clips then it simply plays along with riffworks in time and you can alter the tempo and the drum loops alter with the change of tempo. You have got to record the drum loops as audio clips because vst instruments do not work when lite is in rewire slave mode. Then you can play along and alter the tempo like you can in instrant drummer and when it's right just mix it to a riff in riffworks and away you go.

Hi guys,

Yeah, Live Lite 6 seems to have turned off the ReWire slave mode feature. It works if Live 6 is in demo mode, but after you activate it with a Lite edition serial number, ReWire slave mode stops working. Ableton doesn't publish the specs of the Lite editions anywhere that I could find. I swear it worked in Live Lite 4, but I could be mistaken. If anyone can find the specs for Lite somewhere, I'd love to see the official list of disabled features. It's pretty lame to not be able to figure out and caused me some serious headache when I was working on fixing bugs for 2.1.

Adding some of the VSTi features, like tempo and transport, are on our list for a future version of RiffWorks. So you'll get your wish eventually Mkolak.

cheers,

No worries Dug and thanks. BTW Have you ever messed with Jamstix. It seemed like a good match for your guy's product. I still end making REX2 files from EZ drummer, AD drums and such. But someday I hope to remove any other DAW and just use Riffworks.

I would really like to see Riffworks fully support Drum programs like Addictive Drums, EZ drummer or Jamstix. I think that would allow for more complex and customizable drums. Of course I would not want to see the REX2 player or ID go away or anything like that.

Thanks

Live Lite 4 works in rewire slave mode for sure, I rarely use that's why I havn't upgraded even though I'm entitled to it. It's right there in my rewire list in Riffworks.

Yes your right Guitarslinger live lite 4 does support rewire slave mode but it does not support drag and drop so makes it difficult to use easy drummer. Live lite 6 will rewire slave in demo mode so if you have made your easy drummer midi drum beats into audio clips on the arrange page of lite you can adjust the tempo in riffworks while you play along to them and then when your happy just mix the drumbeat to riff and then just use it as a layer in riffworks, then you don't need to have live lite 6 running it's just like having instant drummer but initially the patterns are editable as they are midi. It's not as instant as instant drummer but it does give you more control over the drum patterns. Sound wise I think some of the instant drummers off rings are really good. Easy drummer does sound very good too but it is subjective.

I'm looking for a rewire slave app. that supports Drag and Drop, EZ Drummer, AD Drums and Riffworks. So far seems like Cakewalk Project 5 is the only one I could find. Price is kinda high. Wonder if they have a demo.
