I have Vista and Riffworks installed. Are you sure you're downloading the latest and correct OS version? The latest version is Vista compatible and so, a patch isn't needed.

Have you tried turning off the firewall/anti-virus before downloading and installing?

If that doesn't work, the sonoma techs here will get you up and running.

I didn't download anything. I am using the cd-rom that was out before vista came out. It installed fine in my windows xp computer but not my vista computer. Is there something I can download somewhere? If so, where?

So, your’s is on a disc? Do you have a Line 6 version or a Sonoma Wire Works Standard version?

If you have the Line 6 version, then go to Line 6 support/downloads and download RifffWorks - as long as you registered your software. Also, you may have to pay for an upgrade if your version is an old one. Line 6 just updated their version and it is compatible with Vista.

If you purchased RiffWorks directly from Sonoma Wire Works, then you should have an account. If so, go to Sonomawireworks.com, then the Store, then select RiffWorks. A window will come up, which allows you to login to your account. There you will find all the software you’ve purchased from Sonoma Wire Works. If you own the L6 version of RiffWorks, you can “crossgrade” to RiffWorks Standard for a fee (see Store).

I know this can be confusing so feel free to ask if you need further help.

I should have added that RW Standard is also Vista Compatible. The great thing about RWS is that its not tied to just L6 products. I choose to crossgrade from L6 RWs to RWS.

Also, can you explain exactly what happens when you try to install the software? Does installation stop or is the application, after installation, unresponsive? Is there an error or another message during installation?

Although Vista is compatible, it is still buggy – since upgrading from xp, life has been miserable (but slowly improving so don’t despair).

Tomorrow is Monday and I am certain a Sonoma Support Tech/moderator will respond with a more informed answer.

The moderators and members here are great and will help you resolve your dilemma.

on the cd-rom it says line 6 version 2.5, cd Rev. K Guitar port. When I try installing from cd rom, windows says it has encountered a problem and must close the program. That's all that happens

Hi,

You should be able to download the RiffWorks installer from the Line 6 website at www.line6.com/software

When did you buy the CD? RiffWorks version 1 isn't Vista compatible, so if that's what you own then you'll need to upgrade to V2 or Standard to be able to use RiffWorks.

I just replied to your other thread. Let's just pick one thread vs. using both. :)

You can upgrade to RiffWorks Line 6 Edition for $29.99. Please see Line 6's RiffWorks Update and Installation Guide (PDF) for details:

Hi, if I can't get my version 1 to install in my windows vista computer how will I just be able to install just an upgrade to a program I can't install? Will it be a complete version? Will it allow me to install version 1 then?

Hi,

You don't need to have RiffWorks 1 installed to qualify for the upgrade. On Vista, you'll install the Line 6 Monkey. When you run the Monkey you'll be prompted to log in with your Line 6 username and password. Your Line 6 purchase history should have record of your RiffWorks V1 purchase. Just follow the instructions for upgrading (see the pdf link in my previous post) and let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi,

You can still use GearBox alongside RiffWorks. Just launch RiffWorks, then go to the Start Menu in Windows to launch GearBox from the Line 6 folder. That'll give you all the effects you had when you used Version 1.

Which InstantDrummers are you attempting to install? V1 Drummers that you got from the Line 6 site, or drummers you purchased from our site?
