I see that now!:) Okay, one final question...let's say that as I'm playing back the entire riff I'm working on, I spot a part that sounds really bad and I want to fade it out, use crossfade, etc. Every time I hit the "stop" button in the riff player, it takes me back to the beginning of the tune. Now how am I supposed to know WHERE to go in the riff to fix that spot?

Well....there's no pause button so unfortunately you can't just stop on the dime!

Make a "mental" note of roughly where on the songbar timeline the offending spot is. When you are in the songlayer with your "infos" open, move the pointer in the songbar to that spot...as you move it you'll see the info scroll along with you. It may take a little hunting if you are looking for a particular bad note, but if you are crossfading one take into another it's usually not hard to pick an appropriate spot to drop one layer down and bring the other one up at the same spot like in the first picture.

gatorjj, thanks for the info! If you don't mind, go read the thread about uninstalling RW version one. See if you can help me on this. Thanks, bro!

Wes and JJ - Great Q&A session. I've learned much.

Thanks

Wish I could help on this one Wes! I've always kept my Riffworks songs in a different folder...really just because of how I organize my stuff. I suspect yours were in the RW folder and the v1 uninstaller might have eaten them.

If it was very recent, they are probably still physically on the hard drive but "unlinked" by the operating system...if this is the case there's utilities out there that may be able to un-erase them if they haven't been overwritten yet.

I'm not up on what those utilities might be these days but perhaps some of the more PC-savvy guys (Shred? Jamie?) might know something that would help.

Okay...thanks! Let's hope SOMEBODY knows:) While I was running V2 - Line 6 Edition today, it crashed....and then it wouldn't recognize my Guitar Port...so I rebooted...I'm hoping my reboot doesn't affect my ability to re-retrieve my lost .rws files. When I uninstalled V1, it asked me if I wanted to reboot right then, but I chose the other option so I could reboot later. That "later" date was today....*waits nervously

In case anyone sees this in this thread, I posted the following in the "Uninstalling version 1" thread.

Here's the really odd thing....I had tunes from RiffWorks version 1 (.rws files) along with 2 tunes I had recorded using RiffWorks V2 - Line 6 Edition in the same folder together for easy choosing when I wanted to "open" a project. I uninstall RW Version ONE, and what does the program do? IT DELETES THE 2 SONGS I RECORDED WITH VERSION 2 - LINE 6 EDITION! Now how does that make any sense? Why wouldn't it have deleted songs I recorded with RW version 1 if I was uninstalling version 1????
