Hi folks im from the u.k and just started using riffworks,MY GOD have i been missing out. After years of using D.A.Ws and not getting anywhere fast(probebly one song a month) i cannot quite believe the inspirational format and ease of use ive only had it about a month and cant stop writing ive already posted three songs.Listening to you guys i cant believe the quality of the sounds your getting much better than any workstation ive used very professional.Im using line 6 gearbox and a cheap condenser mic i bought off ebay at the moment just wondered what sort of gear you guys were using.Great community spirit by the way.

Hi David and indeed, welcome to the RiffWorks forum! Nice to have someone from this side of the pond join us.
You'll come to find that RWS will allow you to produce pretty high quality demos. In fact, with some expert mixing and mastering (Gator, where are you?!) you can produce an acceptable quality commercial CD. Check out Chip's debut CD here -> www.chipgallmusic.com
The forum's "supergroup", The RiffLink Junkies, are in talks about releasing a CD soon too.
So you'll see, all in all, you've found a cool product and a bunch of good people to help you with it.

I have a TonePort UX2/GearBox; SE Electronics 2200 condenser mic and a Shure Beta 58 mic; a Charvel bass; a Gibson Les Paul Standard; a Fender Strat; a Kramer Jersey Star; a Yamaha APX-6C elecroacoustic; a Roland Juno synth and a new pair of Tapco S8 monitors to blow the neighbours in to next week!

Pity I can't produce anything with them!!

Welcome again and keep posting the songs.
Cheers!
Scott

Line 6 POD XT Live, Toneport UX2, '68 Tele Deluxe, Guild acoustic/electric, 80's Shure SM 58's, cheapo bass, Yamaha PSR 6700 Keys, Casio DG-20 digital guitar, misc whistles, bells, harps etc and me and 'er indoors on mega-gob !!!!!

You'll soon be addicted, I'm the oldest Rifflink Junky in captivity and I've only been here since the end of January so I've got a long way to go before I finish my sentence. Look forward to hearing your stuff.

P.S. Next purchase Variax 600 when 'er indoors allows, Jamie Nelson told me to tell her it's cheaper than a coke habit but that din't work. Still workin' on a new excuse

Yup, you'll be in good hands here. My favorite band is from the UK. Spinal Tap is the bomb! You guys might not know that Tap is from there. You might not know who Spinal Tap is. I dunno, do you guys know Spinal Tap over in the UK?

Anyway, notice how you're not the only one that's using Line 6 stuff? You'll find that's the case across the board. Most of us are Line 6 users. XTL and UX1 here, with a Flextone II that sits and collects dust cuz I can't hook it up to my computer....
"I think the problem might have been, that there was a stonehenge monument on stage in danger of being crushed, by a dwarf". "I really think you're making a big thing out of this". "Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea".

Hey Beauzeau, I think you'll find there never actually was a band called Spinal Tap, it was name created for a band to star in a film and the band members, who may have actually been musicians, were acting the part of band members. If I'm correct and I think I am, you'll never find any material other than that on the soundtrack. The same is true of "The Commitments" although Andrew Strong, who played the role of lead singer, is a recording/live artiste in his own right.

FYI he is now bald and fat and I don't think you'd like his music.

Very similar to me then.................HaHa.

I'll check the Spinal Tap thing for ya, but I'm sure that's the case.

Uncle Bill.
