The singer in Spinal Tap was Michael McKean who played Lenny on the TV show Laverne & Shirley.

Bill, yeah, when I look back and read it I guess that I didn't make it clear that it was a joke....

Spinal Tap is a Christopher Guest project that started out as a "mockumentary" film and then, well, they became so recognizable, they actually toured! A few times! They are a mock band, so to speak, but they are real musicians, the songs are originals, and they have played the part of the mock band to the point of actually reaching celebrity status with their alter egos over here in the states. In fact, Satch toured with them for a while! Nigel even appeared as a guest in Satch's 'The Satch Tapes' video. It's hard to even call Guest by his name. I always call him Nigel. Jamie Lee Curtis, she calls him hubby....

The three of them have done several films together. Michael Mckeon and Harry Shearer always end up in Guests movies. My favorite, 'Best in Show'. Hilarious movie. Catch it if you get a chance.

"why don't you just make ten louder, and let that be the loudest?"

"But these go to eleven...."
