The Toneport UX1 uses unbalanced outs whereas the Toneport UX2 uses balanced outs. It's been my experience, that I get a better result with a UX1 using standard unbalanced 1/4" cables.

Use analog outs 1 and 2 on your Toneport, and if your monitors have 1/4" inputs you're all set. If they have XLR, then you'll need a 1/4" to XLR cable.

I'm using Tapco S8s and I have them plugged in to the standard 1/4" jack at the rear of the monitor and the 'Anolog Outs' on the UX2. Works great but I'm going to have a go at trying the XLR to 1/4" to see. Using the XLRs made a huge difference to the performance on the mic input.
Cheers!

It will probably have to be TRS 1/4s at the monitor otherwise you'd be running loZ to hiZ . I don't think it will make as huge a perfomance leap as the mic did.
