Riffworks crashes my computer like nothing else I've ever seen! I mean it!! My system is completely stable. I run Reaper, Audacity and Cubase on it with few hiccups. I'm on Windows XP SP2 and this thing will blue screen and/or completely shut down the computer ALL THE TIME. The problem is compounded when I sign onto RiffLink which, I love but can't use without intermittent crashes every 2 minutes!!!!

I've replaced my audio interface (was using TonePort and now using Tascam Fw-1082), reformatted my hard drive, and made several other tweaks. I just don't understand what Riffworks doesn't like about my computer?!? PLEASE HELP! I love this program but it's still unusable to me at this point. Here's my config:

ASUS P4PE Motherboard
P4 2.4 Ghz processor
1 Gig RAM
WD Hard Drive
F-Secure Firewall/Anit-Virus (disabled during use)
All visual effects are turned of in XP
Several background services have been disabled
System idles at 2% CPU and less than 200MB Ram

Do others have these issues? Is this program just buggy? I wonder! If it wasn't so damn good I would have quit it by now.......

Arrrrrrrrrrrg,
Rich

I think I'm ready for a new system build anyway. Can you guys give me suggestions for the ideal setup? Is it really just about more RAM? Is there a better chipset (motherboard) that is ideal for RiffWorks and home recording? Is AMD or Intel the way to go? I'll take all your suggestions. I appreciate the feedback!

Peace,
Rich

Hey Rich,

I was initially running Line6 RiffWorks and now RiffWorks STD on XP SP2 with an AMD 1800mhz processor and 1gb of ram with no real problems to write home about. Looks like your problem is happening somewhere outside of the RiffWorks software. I'm sure the guys here will soon get you up and running.
