It may be coincidence but since upgrading (if you can call it an upgrade) to Vista in February, opening saved songs in RWS is a very slow process – it takes a couple of minutes. My RWS has all updates installed. Any guesses?

I really wish I could...You seem to be plotting the way for Vista...at least for me.

Thanks anyway camaro24gold! Things are getting better with Vista but it’s still a new frontier.

I haven't used Vista yet, but some users have reported better luck using XP compatible mode. I'm not sure how to access that, but it might be worth looking up.

Thanks Hayden,

As a Vista user, I know how to access the xp compatible mode - and so, will give your suggestion a try.

Hey Epauley,

Don't know if this is relevant but I ran a ZDnet (Ziff Davis pc magazine people ?) test on my pc and it reported the need for a better graphics card with lots of onboard ram and sound card for it to run properly, along with other stuff I can't remember, probably ram etc, so decided to stick with what I had for the time being. I'm running XP Home SP 2 on an AMD Athlon and 1800 mhz board with 1gb ram. The only time I get speed or loading hangups is if I've got background stuff running, email host, MSN etc. Also if I'm up late....haha....Junkies don't get much sleep......and my virus checker kicks in on automatic pilot, everything goes into slow motion. Only other comment I have is when I have a lot of layers going on in riffs my pc produces glitches and farts when it go from one riff to the next through a song, I've put this down to the amount of ram but I'm not sure. RiffWorks does appear to require a lot of graphics capacity from your pc, especially if you have any dropdown waves showing by pressing the info button on a layer.

Hope this helps,

Uncle Bill.

As Uncle Bill was pointing out....get control of your start up programs when running music apps. This is why I run a partitioned drive as so when I go to the main recording partition, hardly anything loads as compared to the drive I use for general internet and other b.s. programs.
On the music partion...Norton is set up not to start at all until I launch it.....and that is only durring limited internet connections for Norton itself and the DAWs.

im not sure what the problem is, but ive been using vista since march, and my stuff loads alot faster, i dont know if you just updated you op or your whole comp, like duel core or whatever. mine runs way better then xp, my only prob is the drum tracks sound under water when i first start RWS, but a reboot and the POD then RWS does the trick!
