Got the message too but saw your first post. The Amplitube Live that's with RWS is a build of version 2.0.0. I don't know if that's significant or not, or whether it's to do with how Sonoma have linked the two pieces of software. It would be nice, as RWS users, if we could reap the benefits of improvements to Amplitube as well.
Cheers!

I saw the email and only had time for a quick look at the Amplitube page. Looks like you have to be aware that there are numerous different upgrades for the different versions of Amplitube. If you've picked the wrong one by mistake, you could be trying to upgrade something you effectively haven't got, if you see what I mean. If you follow the instructions to un-install the version you have, there's every chance an incorrect upgrade would not find the relevant stuff (DLL's, Windows drivers etc) to bolt itself onto and this would no doubt mean you finish up with zilch. I suggest going back to the upgrade list page and checking which version you went for, at that you might still have to re-install what you had originally if the un-install has to happen during the upgrade. hope this helps.

Problem here, too. I got Amplitube with RW Standard. I received the upgrade notice the other day and downloaded the installer, and it says I need to uninstall the earlier version of Amplitube. Get this: I can't uninstall! Got an error when uninstalling with the Add/Remove Programs app in Control Panel - running XP SP2. Ha! Never seen an error when uninstalling. I sent a tech support request to IK, waiting to see if they respond.

Hi guys,

You don't need this update for use with RiffWorks. RiffWorks comes with Amplitube 2 Live v2.0.0. The update for Amplitube Live is to 2.0.2. Typically, if only the third number changes, then the changes are minor and only fix a specific problem or add a minor feature, often not required by all users.

The email from IK says the update "provid[es] compatibility with VST 2.4 hosts such as Cubase® 4 and Live 6. For AmpliTube 2, AmpliTube 2 Live, and Ampeg SVX, these updates also provide a smoother automation response."

RiffWorks is not a VST 2.4 host, and it does not do automation of the plug-ins, so unless you are using one of these other hosts, then you don't need it. If you are having any problems other than getting your serial number for a download purchase of Amplitube, please contact IK Multimedia. Their support guys are really good in my experience and they will know (or figure out) what's going on.

My theory about what is happening to you guys, is that IK made us a special installer for Amplitube 2 Live to go with RiffWorks that only installs the VST or AU plugin. The upgrade installers they made for Amplitube 2 Live probably assume that there is stuff that you don't have and it's getting an error and just stopping. I'll let them know that something is not quite right for our users.

cheers,
