I just paid for and downloaded the standard version so I can use my digi tech gnx 3000
with riffworks instead of toneport. When I tried to change the audio device in audio setup the gnx was there along with toneport and guitar port but when I selected the gnx all riffworks will do is say resetting audio device and I can not do or hear a thing. I have shut it down and tried to restart it with the gnx diconected but it refuses to open unless the gnx is on and I can not get it to go back to the tone port. any suggestions?
I guess I should have left well enough alone.... worked great with tone port, never had any problems.

Thanks Ron

The Digitech isn't on the recommended hardware list. It may be a simple incompatability issue.
I had similar issues with my TASCAM US-428 and got the advice below from Dug.

To get unstuck, try this:
>Got to Start->Run
>Type "regedit"
>Go to folder HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSonoma WireWorksRiffWorksStandard
>Delete "DeviceName"

Hope it at least gets you working again with the TonePort.
Cheers!

Well I had to uninstall riffworks and reinstall it with the GNX disconected and it works great with tone port or guitar port but it did that with the line 6 edition fine.
One of the other posts said it worked with his gnx 3000, so maybe I will ask him. Any other benefit to spending the xtra 69.000 for the standard edition?

Thanks, Ron

Ron,

The 'other guy' you mention starts the thread you posted to with his reasons why the crossgrade was worth it.
Randy and/or Hayden will help you out if they can, so you can feel that way too.:) It seems strange that someone else gets the same hardware to work but you can't.
You can contact Support from the website or send an e-mail with your problem to support@sonomawireworks.com.
Cheers!
Scott

Thanks Scott, I have emailed Sonoma to see if they can help. You are right , the gnx 3000 is not on the list so I have asked in the other post how he got it to connect. I have gotten great results from Riffworks and have been very happy with Toneport and gearbox, I guess I can always send the signal from my GNX 3000 to the line input of Toneport by way of guitar cable. Riffworks is to me still the best and easiest recording software out there for home recording. Thanks again for your help.

ASIO4ALL drivers seem to be the hero of devices that don't play well. I don't know anything about the GNX but it might work. The GNX uses USB connection and either wdm or asio, right? If the asio wont work and since Riffworks only accepts asio, then try routing the wdm driver with asio4all. Also check the manufacturer for any updates. Good luck.

Now that I think about it routing it into the Toneport is not a bad idea at all. This will enable you to set a high buffer at like 1024 for higher quality recording and still use the tone direct monitoring. Tonedirect is fantastic in terms of latency I cannot even detect it.

If your like me you probably have your speakers attached to your toneport and this can save you alot of headache from switching speakers to different devices. I use my Pod the same way when I'm at the desk routing into the toneport. I think if I had one more device I would buy a mixer.

thanks GuitarSlinger, I do have my speakers (monitors) connected to my tonePort and my GNX 3000 and that is also going into my amp. Recording has been great with Rifftracker and Toneport, just thought I would like to use the gnx with rifftracker, but I am going to try it direct into the tone port and see how that sounds....will let you know.
Thanks, Ron
