I just got a MOTU Ultralite & I've been told that RiffWorks is similar in functionality/ease of use as GarageBand. I'm used to using a friend's GarageBand but I can't afford a mac (I've currently got a pc). Will the MOTU and RiffWorks work well together?

not even close to functionality of GarageBand. You get TONS more music-making fun stuff with garageband. You get virtually nothing with riffworks. If you are a guitar guy, then I think you'll have fun with Riffworks. But I have found it absolutely can not replace garageband or Logic Express when you start working with other instruments. It's not called Riffworks for nothing - you got guitar riffs? you will dig RW, if you use synths, and virtual instruments, you'll need Garageband as a minimum. That's how I see it.

Lets see.................hmmmmm................then how the heck did I get Reason to work with RW......it's a Virtual Instrument. And hell.....I recorded a Triton Extreme directly into RW..............musta been a accident.
Don't get me wrong.....I've used a lot of different DAWs (MOTU Digital Performer, Cakewalk, Live6, Reason) and they all have their ups and downs to 'em..but riffs, licks, musical phrases, etc. can happen on any instrument and RW can record 'em all if you want to. It's not just for guitars and nothing else...and there are a lot of musicians here that are far more talented than me that have done it.
