Get rid of rex files? No way! Before RiffWorks I'd never worked with rex, but now that I do, I don't know how I could live without them (plus I've spent a buttload of money on rex drum loop cd's, and I don't own Reason). I agree that wav and mp3 importing would be a huge bonus, but you can't use the same wav or mp3 loop at 80bpm and then again at 140bpm, it just won't work. Rex is still the king of tempo-independence.

+1 on being able to remove riffs from a song's timeline and still having any recorded song layers sync up. I'm not sure how that could be accomplished, but it would be an awesome feature for sure.

That might be true but acidized wave files have tempo information and time stretch just like rex files do. Same with apple loops I believe.

Well how about that, ya learn something new every day. And here I'd been using Acid for years and never knew about that. Just goes to show that even relatively simple apps like acid have lots of functionality that idiots like me might not even know existed. I might just have to google it and learn some more :)

I would like to be able to preview rex files without having to load them into RWs.

I was thinking it would be a cool addition to add a couple more tracks on the song line. We can mix almost unlimited amounts of riffs and REX but if someone wanted to add another track to a song, we need to mix to riff. Once that is done the FX and any other editing you may need/want to do can't be done on those riffs unless you do it at the source and re-mix to riff.
I also thought it may be cool to be able to punch in an effect (not in the entire riff). This could be cool say to add a delay on an accent note or anything that is just part of a riff. This could be accessed via the details section of the riff the same way you fade the riff.
I guess thats it for now. This is great software and I love it.

My main wish: ReWire slave as well as ReWire master.

Seems this would be good for a giant step backwards.

rex files are pretty inexspensive imo..ive got a slew of them from many diffrent vendors at very resoable prices..companys like 'PEACE LOVE PRODUCTIONS" have alot for 10$ or less, and you get rex/wave/and reason too,,also "ZERO G" has or did have over 10,000 rexs for around 150.00$..check um out..also there are 100s and 100s of free rexs on the web..

Export riffs to wave file and vice versa , and/or bounce 'backups' to rifflayer, would solve the few drawbacks of the program. One big drawback is you can't keep any changes in rewire plug-ins. ie. I use Guru drum machine. You can have one pattern running in Rewire, but you go to another riff and you change the pattern, and then that becomes the pattern in all your riffs. To make riffworks remember 3rd party changes would be really complicated. Bouncing 'backups' to rifflayer would solve that. Bounce to wave and re-import opens up riffworks to a host of other applications. It would make for a superb program. Its currently terrific, but a little bit of a 'toy" still. Which leads to NO 2. is to record in 24 bit. I run protools and the space and clarity audible in protools LE v Riffworks is readily apparant. I know it all gets converted to 16bit eventually but a lot of detail is lost in the interim. Perhaps you could relase a Riffworks Pro and Riffworks Standard versions. Cheers
