the article was informative, thanks blue4u, reading about how it's used gives me an explination of the pre-sets on compressor in the layer effects. didn't have a clue what they meant.

after the first whole page of this thread, i went back and tweaked my riffcaster song, taking all the advice from you guys.
took off some effects, not much at all, pan and vol adjustments, etc.

i used the default setting of compression in the layers, really good results, i think.
the drums i set to tight and punchy.

lol, i have 3 versions, original, botched attempt and final.
original is "can you make me", final is "can you mp3", if anyone is interested, please give them an A/B at

btw, this is a cool site. i think the player sounds better than on other sites.
