I would encourage anyone reading this to research usb vs firewire for audio. Especially, if you are buying a new audio interface. I think you'll find firewire has distinct advantages. You can certainly get usb to work for you but there are a few pitfalls to be aware of. Intermittent noise is the biggest thing to tackle. All the best...

Everyone just bypassed Bill and Mickey's comments. I got it and they were quite good. Gotta keep it light.

Uncle Bill

That would be the sound of yourself my good man.........breaking an early morning wind! :)

Ok so I now know how to keep upwind of my own artifactions but I'm still unsure what one sounds like on Riffworks. Do they appear on the songline or on riff layers or where riffs join up ?

Should I try recording one of my own early morning ones ? If so I can't guarantee that I can fart completely in time or in tune or that I won't blow the plumbing out as Tim does.

I need some help here, I haven't had a sniff of a sensible answer yet !!! ;)

No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

I found that I was getting a big POP at the beginning of songs by using too much compression. I'm not exactly sure the why of it, but on some songs I thought were ruined by having a huge POP at the start of the chorus riff, after fiddling around for a while I realized that for reason X using compression created it.

That being said, it can be compression from using COMPRESSION or from using the Compression settings in SHARPER or using the EQ as well. Not cool as those are three nice things to use, but I think once I get more familiar with recording the why's of this will make sense.

Trust me when I say to you......my Creative X-Fi card is disabled for a reason. I sue the Tone Port as my main audio device and plug the speakers in the headphone out.

Disable the Creative card, and readjust your buffer if required......all will be fine

The creative cards always have load passing through the bus and it does take away from the cpu and ram performance. If you card switches modes from entertainment to audio creation to gaming.....try changing it and listen to the differences. If you set it on audio creation it will be better.....but again it is not required to use with Riffworks and any Line 6 product.
