So yeah as the title says, I had a Windows XP computer for a while, and I had downloaded guitarport along with riffworks (came on one CD). Anyway that computer died, and now that I have vista, my comp can't read the CD it all came with.

I don't know what to do anymore. I don't want to have to pay for riffworks again.

Anybody have a solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

When you say, "...can't read the CD", are you getting an error message i.e. you can't see what's on the CD at all, or is it saying the disk is incompatible with Vista?

The former probably means the disc is corrupt or there's something up with your CD drive. Check the disc for scratches, marks.
Have you been able to work with other CDs in that same CD drive?
Cheers!
Scott

Yes I've been able to use other Cds in the drive and have them work successfully. When I put in the Rifftracker CD, it begins the installation process but then it quits on me, saying it has encountered an error. I CD looks in very good condition, with no scratches visible. Perhaps it is incompatible with Vista

Just for info., is it RiffWorks or RiffTracker you're talking about? - and if it's the former, is it the Line6 edition or 'Standard'?
Cheers!

hi,
i just went through this, this past week with vista. i too had xp and started with gp and the rifftracker set.

i didn't try to load the cd but took scotts advice to just go to sww and load up from there without the cd.

scott, maybe he can do that?

just be ready to un/reinstall a few times, no big deal. vista works with riffworks.

If it's RiffTracker, Alex could try downloading things from his account on the Line6 website.
If it's 'Standard' things need to be done from the Sonoma site. I don't know if buying the 'Standard' CD package puts a link on the user's software downloads page. We'd need advice from the guys further up the chain!
Cheers!

you must have a monkey login, correct? that is the line 6 access. go to account and check it out, then go to down loads.
if you can get there then you're ok. d-load monkey 1.18, gear box 3.1, rwv2 etc.
prepare to repeat as needed.

Hi,

This may be a silly question, but are you sure it's RiffWorks Line 6 Edition V2? Version 1 isn't compatible with Vista and you haven't made it clear which version you're using just that you aren't using RiffWorks Standard.

If you have V1, then you'll need to upgrade to V2 in order to be able to use it with the new OS. The upgrade is $29.99 from Line 6 and it's free if you purchased RiffWorks on or after Feb 1, 2006.

Let us know,
Randy
