gatorjj,
Do let me know if it works, as as of now have only tested on my personal development server and other machines.

I have it working on the Standard version. I was able to create a riff using your tool and import it into Riffworks Standard.

Amit I have it working fine with a Dual Core XP Media Center PC. A couple notes, once I understood how it works with importing / exporting riffs it was straightforward to take a layer out of one riff and add it to another.

A couple notes...the "info" volume has no effect on the layer I added. I could draw all over it and it doesn't affect it. It still works on the other layers in the riff. I thought I would try and re-open the song to see if it was a fluke and ended up with the "unhandled exception to end all unhandled exceptions" :( I was able to restart and open the song file and it's all in there, but the info still doesn't work on that layer so I expect there's something odd happening on your side. Everything else I tried (effects, panning etc.) seems to work okay.

Your right. The info meter doesnt work on the second layer import. I did not get any crashes though.

I myself wont be importing more than one layer I doubt. I may use this to bring in some acid wav backings that I have. I wonder what will happen when the actual wav tempo is not an exact number? Like 148.6? Riffworks doesn't support decimal values in the tempo bar. It may be too small a difference to notice.

The Crash Should not have happend as that was a valid parameter that was set to off for debugging.

Here is an Updated file, just replace the installed exe with the contained in zip archive : http://rapidshare.com/files/47025923/intelliRiffer.zip

The Parameter AutoGain was set to off. that is why there was no response to envelopes to newly added layers.

if you still encounter crash please provide some info about the riff, length in bars etc so i can try to replicate it.

I doubt that it will be too small a difference to notice as loop wont function properly and start to lag or lead after few iterations depending upon the tempo rounding off.
It does not allow fractional values in tempo but i am gonna give that a try and see what happens. intelliriffer currently only allows for Interger Values due to the limitation. I usually would open such odd bpm acid files in ableton live and tweak them to the nearest integer.

THX,
Amit

atalwar -

I am having some troubles with getting this up and running. I downloaded the latestest zip file in the succession of the updates you have posted and keep getting a

Run Time Error 429
ActiveX component can't Create Object

message

I noticed after gator reported the visual basic error I went to the link and dl'ed that from MS and then I saw that you told him to run the ActiveXZip.
He stated he was up and running then.

I have XP and don't know about this ActiveXZip.
"I missed the ActiveXZip step" also.

What's next for for me?

It was in the application folder created by the installer. After I installed the program, I ran the ActiveXZip and the program worked.

Ah ha...It was in the first version download folder before the updates. I kept thinking it would show up in the zipped upgrade folders, found the installer in the program files from first dl. Thanks for steering my attention in the right direction.

Bone head alert!

I have the program open and am failing already. I do #1 - Click [2] New Riff Button and get a riffsample show up on my desk top but then cannot get # 2 - Set the Riff Title (default : untitled) [7] to work. None of the buttons respond to my clicking on them.

I was trying to import a wav. file I generated with Sequel (no comment, got it as a gift), just a base line.

- just like beta testing, I'm already doing something wrong.
thanks for help in advance,
Mark

Jisg Where are you running the program from ?
you should not be getting riffsample on desktop.

The Program has to be run in its installed location (due to its use of installed components and compression decompression routines).

By default everything will be disabled except the Top Buttons 4 buttons.

here is how to do create a riff file from wav. (ignore the title untitled for now)

1 .Click the New Riff Button. : the boxes should get filled with tempo of 120 , bars 8 and title untitled.

2 : click the import button and browse for the source wav file.
3 . Click add as new layer button ,the list on left side should show the name of the wav file as a new layer.

4 click save riff button , browse for save location and give it a name and save the file.

You Should not be getting any files on desktop. (the included riffsample.rif file is a file used internally by the program and is not be opened or used..

If it still does not work, i would recommend you uninstall it using add/remove programs.
and then reinstall it and run it either from shotcut on dektop or from star tmenu.

You do not need the small update version to test its working, the update only fixes layer Gain envelope issue.

THX,
Amit

OK - got it.
Thanks.
I was running it from an shortcut on the desk top (update dl's unzipped on the desk top) instead of from the program files folder. Thanks for the help and the work on your FREE beta program.

Amit -
I haven't seen much action from this thread. Just wanted you to know that I appreciate your hard work and expertise - been having a lot of fun bringing WAVs into RW.
Thanks again.

Thanks very much for doing this, I had just bought the software and was frustrated it wouldn't play the music files I wanted to work with.

Installation went fine, although buttons wouldn't do anything until after I had converted some files using the batch processing command on the Tools menu. Now the buttons seem to be working. Will keep going and let you know what I find.

Btw, not a guitarist, a violinist.
