I know you can add vocals by plugging in a mic ... and a bass guitar, etc. Has anyone tried the audio side of a keyboard or synth? Just curious!

I added keyboards to my song last week. Check it out. I really don't know how to play the keys so they are low in the mix. I didn't use any amp modeils in the xtl.

I have recorded many different instruments with rifftracker, guitars, bass, keyboards, v-drums, saxaphone, anything I can mic or plug in. Just use the instrument preamp and add effects as you please.

At the bottom of the Riffworks window to the right of the work monitor there is an icon of an instrument. If you press the hardware button and then click and hold down on the instrument icon a picture of several instruments ( piano, sax, microphone, drums ) appears. what are these for? If you click on piano for instance and then press record, the piano shows up on the layer line. Are these VSTI's or are we attaching a midi keyboard and it will record it like a piano?

Those are Just icons for the Track so you cn tell just by looking at them what track/layer is what. Makes easy to distinguish layers etc.

You Can plug anything and record it. With Keyboard and Synth just remember that they may have a line level output. (guitar and bass input devices uaually have a high impedence input).

They are just icons, they're only there for users convenience as a reference on a layer for the type of instrument used to record. You can take photos of your own stuff and put them in the RW icon folder as well, not sure what format or size they have to be though :)

Ah, you beat me to it Amit :)
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!
