Hi,

It sounds like each layer is recording the layers before it along with the guitar you're playing at the time. If you stop and play one of the last layers by itself by using "Solo" on that layer, can you still year the layers before it?

It would also be helpful to know what audio interface device you're using and how you have it hooked up to your system, guitar and speakers.

I believe that what you're hearing is the effect of multiple waves combining and increasing the amplitude of the signal. In other words, every layer you add is increasing the volume because it adds to the other layers. The combined effect of these sound waves multiplying is a louder signal.

If you play the same guitar part 10 times on 10 different layers and play them all back in sync you will hear a MUCH louder guitar sound than you would with just a single layer. As you stack more and more layers the overall, mixed sound is going to get louder. If you stack too many layers at full volume you will start to lose clarity and focus. The sound will be loud but undefined.

Try turning down and/or panning (left to right) different layers to give each part some space in the mix. Does this make sense? I hope it was helpful...

Peace,
Rich
