what is the common way to record vox and guitar at the same time?

can that happen? would they be on the same layer?

i have the standard version now, so can i do it? lol.

what would i need, i have a gport. something with 2 inputs i gather.

The TonePort UX2 allows you to work with a mic and instrument at the same time. They would be recorded on the same layer. Just wondering why you'd want to do this when RW allows you to overdub vocals on your guitar anyway - albeit as separate layers.
Cheers!

hi scott,

just curious, thinking it might be nice to try some improv with my wife and see what comes out of it if it's not too xpensive. rather invest in better mic's though.

thank you, i'll check out the tp.

Man, it would be a dream come true if the next version of Riffworks allowed recording multiple layers simultaneously from different inputs.

The reasons for this are MANY:

1) To capture a live performance
2) For songwriting
3) For playing guitar and singing at the same time (a different vibe completely than overdubbing vox)
4) Recording drums
5) Recording a stereo image of acoustic guitar
6) Double micing a singer
7) Double micing a guitar amp
8) Record two guitar amp simulations at once

I REALLY hope this is in the works! It would be a HUGE step forward in raising the bar for this beauty :)

Fooks,

There are a couple of ways you can do this. If you have a mixing board, you can run everything into that then run the output of the mixing board into your ASIO device. Everything would be on the same layer though.

Another option is to use a program like Cubase or Ableton and setup multiple tracks then you could record them live and export them into RiffWorks.
