I like Riffworks (I have the line6 ver 2.1) but there are 2 issues that need to be fixed:

1) sometimes after I've drawn in volume changes using the INFO button I lose the changes I've made and

2) sometimes when recording on the SONGLAYERS parts play back at the wrong time.
I thought the issues I am describing were due to not enough ram or that my computer wasn't up to the task. The ram suggestion was made on this forum but I've purchased a new computer and loaded it up with ram and the computer was not the issue. Both problems are still there.

Cool program but it would be great if both of these issues were fixed.

Just a comment about song layers playing back at wrong time. The only time I have had this problem is I add a new riff or move riffs around after I have recorded in the songlayer. Hope that makes sense.

Is there a way other than this forum to report bugs?

The info changes are a bug that has already been reported (By Gator) in BETA testing .............and the work around is to NOT change ASIO devices while the song is open...........every time I did that info setting went to MAX even though they still showed fading.........

The work around that I found for the songlayers issue I found is to press stop on the songbar player, play again, stop........then drag the arrow thingy where you want it..........slow down.....and let RiffWorks "breathe" for a second....then press record..........
I find that when I try to do too much too fast is when I run into this issue.........
How much RAM exactly do you have?

mickeymix, thanks for your post. I'm not changing ASIO devices so there must be another issue on the INFO volume changes. Only think I've found that reduces this is to make sure to save even if I haven't made changes to the file every time I close it but it shouldn't happen.

From what you're saying the problem with SONGLAYERS may also be a known issue.

I've got 4 GBs of RAM. THis was probably overkill but since I was buying a new machine I wanted to reduce my headaches.

Thanks alos to bluesydude.

Ha Ha ..... I thought I was one of the only guys with 4 Gigs of RAM ......just upgraded last week to Corsair 667mhz.......
Now ...I'm curious as to what causes that INFO volume reset...... I had that happen in RiffLink the last few nights with no changes made on the ASIO drivers on Scottish Moons final riff.........

What operating system are you guys using that runs 4 gigs of RAM? Windows XP and Vista BOTH can only see up to about 3.1 gigs at 32 bit. Unless either of you are running a 64 bit operating system (like WinXP PRO 64 bit) I don't think you'll see the full advantage of 4 gigs. I could be wrong on this but it's what I've read in a few different places so, you might look into it. The manual on my new motherboard even mentions this! Check it out...

I'm running Vista Home Premium. You're right about Windows only seeing up to ~3 GB. When I purchased my new system (hard to remember exactly) I think it was a choice of either 2 or 4 GB of ram. I was pretty frustrated with computer problems at the time so I opted for the 4 GBs.

ok, still a good choice though! 3 gigs is MORE than enough for some time to come I think...

Hi,

I've received your message in Support, but I'll just report back here since you made this post. Actually, Mickeymix's first response is exactly what I would have written anyways.

I'm not aware of any other issue with Gain Automation (Info), so you may have stumbled on something new. I use the gain automation feature in nearly every song I've created, and I've never had the problem you've described. Can you duplicate the problem or was it a fluke thing?

Thanks for the heads-up!

I've had this happen a couple of times as well Randy, I don't think I changed ASIO devices mid-stream though.

No doubt when you stop tantalising it'll all be sorted :)

Randy,

Thanks for your reply. The problem with INFO changes being lost definitely happens every now and then. It is not a fluke. The cause cannot be changing ASIO devices because I am only using a Pod xt.

Sometimes I have another program open, like media player (so I can listen to the original version of a song I'm working on). Could that cause a problem?

Thanks
