How should I set my pod xt so that it won't color Amplitube's sounds? I just crossgraded to RW standard and I am checking out Amplitube Live but even though I've chosen "send clean guitar" in the Pod xt's signal path I'm still hearing its processing on my guitar. I have the hardware button in riffworks so that it is not lit.

September, I think what you want to do is run with a preamp only, no amp or cab.

Isn't there a bypass switch or mode? Check the back of the XT. Also, go to the Line 6 website and locate the manual under downloads or support. I'm almost positive there is a way to bypass the modeling. For a quick fix now you can use the "Preamp" model to "warm" up the signal a bit without coloring it too much. Make sure you select "No Cab" when you use the preamp model. You might like the results :)

I think the factory preset at channel 30-D was set with all off as a bypass. Opening the asio control panel from riffworks with the XT connected should allow you to set the signal path and send only the input to the computer. If you've done that and still hear the xt amp or effect then I don't have the answer. Perhaps you're hearing amplitube's amp and effects, not the xt.

Thanks for the help! IT worked out pretty well setting everything to no amp and no cab and no effects. So far, checking out Amplitube has made me appreciate what I have in my loaded up pod xt. :)

The Amplitube (at least version 2) really shines on the clean models though. I find it to be more defined and articulate. Very authentic tube vibe. For heavier tones I stick with the Line 6 models...

With RiffWorks Standard you can now demo other VSTs as well. Most of these are free so have fun with them! You can waste away an entire Sunday afternoon with them:

http://www.voxengo.com/product/boogex/
http://frettedsynth.asseca.com/as.htm
http://www.kjaerhusaudio.com/classic-series.php

I pulled most of these from this thread: http://line6.com/support/thread.jspa?messageID=64641ﲁ

Some may not work in RiffWorks but I've had good luck with most. One VST that won't work in RiffWorks is Waves GTR (too expensive anyway!). Guitar Rig has a demo you might check out on native-instruments.com but it is a bit buggy in RiffWorks. You can get it to behave but it takes some patience and a few workarounds.

Enjoy!

http://kvraudio.com has a big list of VST's of all sorts, both free and commercial that you can try as well.
