Why does it take so long for riffworks to initialize? After I click on it riffworks may take 35-45 seconds to come up. why? Is there something I can do to fix it?

I had this problem for a while and magically, my recordings started booting up quickly again. I have the same hardware, memory, and operating system (the once dreaded Vista) as before. So, in my case, it must have been related to a Microsoft update. Check and see if your drivers are up-to-date.

I have a Dell Optiplex 260 tower with a socket 478 celeron, 2.66mhz, 2 gig ram, 6200 graphics card.
It takes about 12-15 second. I've only had problems when running a virus check in the background, it'll hang bit on occasion.

Can you tell me what you have your RiffWorks VST plugin path set as? I recommend setting it to C:Program FilesVstplugins

RiffWorks scans whatever location you've specified for plugins, so if you set it to something generic like, C:/, then it's going to take a while to scan before fully starting up.

I have mine put into a program partition folder designated under E:Line6, which is not the same partition as the boot files.

E:Line6RiffWorksLine6Edition.exe

I'll probably redo the format of the entire hard drive as I'll be upgrading from 80 gig main drive to 250gb over the next week. I'll need more space for more VST and programs. I haven't had any problems with RW loading though.

So, the slowness issue was resolved by changing plugin paths with only amps and channel strip plugs!!!! Thank You for pointing that out. Now I need to figure out why Riffworks gives me the "Riffworks did not exit correctly. Would you like to recover the last song file." ??? Any thoughts?

i have almost the opposite problem, and it is VERY minor. everytime i open riffworks i get the message 'Riffworks did not exit correctly. Would you like to try to recover last song file?' I click no and the app opens fine. Everytime i close out i save and click the close 'cross' at right hand of screen. So there is no operational problem, just a hassly window every time i open it. Any idea whats happening here?

i had that for awhile, i didn't do anything and it went away. i use to click yes, just incase i would lose it, tho.

when i open rw, it takes about 5sec to show up and another couple secs to load. 2g pent 4, vista basic.
about the same for my old set up of xp and 528MB drive, pent 4.
