Hey, guys. This issue just recently reared its ugly head. In RW2 Line 6 Edition, any instruments panned "right" don't come through my speakers. Ones panned "left" do come through my speakers. It didn't use to do this. If I play an mp3, both sides are okay.

Am I missing something? I've checked the ASIO driver settings using my Guitar Port hardware and don't seem to see anything that would help. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Wes

Hi Wes, a couple questions to clarify the problem.

When you pan "left" do you hear things out of both speakers or just the left one?

What software are you using to play the MP3, and does it have a balance control to see what happens when you go Left or Right?

J.J,

Thanks for being so quick to respond. In RW2, when I pan left, I only get sound out of the right speaker...which is odd.

When I play an mp3 with Windows Media Player and pan left, I only get sound out of the left speaker. When I pan right, I only get sound out of my right speaker.

My soundcard is a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 which only records in mono I guess...but in prior months of using RW2, I never had a problem hearing the RW2 track played back in both speakers. I noticed this because my track has octaves that I panned left and also right to separate them a little more.

Hmmm....

Not having a GuitarPort (but being brave and shameless  ) I'll try and help but we'll probably need someone else to jump in here.

How are you using the Line6 edition with a SoundBlaster card? Can you give me an idea of how things are hooked up physically?

Also, when you pan right and can't hear anything, do you still see lights playing in RiffWorks?

I'm basically just plugged into my Guitar Port hardware, then from the GP's headphone out to my Audigy 2's Line In. My soundcard enables my 5.1 Boston surround speakers.

Also, when I pan right and don't hear anything, I DO see the LED lights showing that it's getting some kind of signal in RW2.

That narrows it down a bit!

RiffWorks and the Sound Card's outputs seem to be fine. The problem probably lies somewhere in between. Do you have any headphones you can plug directly into the GuitarPort to see if it acts normally?

Wow...You're a genius!:) Headphones work perfect when panned....must be the cable from the GP to the soundcard?

Either the cable, the input jack, or something messed up in the Audigy input control panel (I'm guessing there's such a beast!).

Well, good news. I had noticed recently that when I tried to launch my "Creative Speaker Calibration" program for the soundcard, it would crash immediately. Luckily, I found my Soundblaster programs and driver disk and just uninstalled and reinstalled everything. After a few times of having to reboot, all is well now and the way it used to be. When I pan things, they come out of the correct speaker so all looks to be fixed.

Thanks for your help, J.J.!
