Just in case any one else asks the question, I'm using a Line6 POD X3 Live with Riffworks, and it's working fine.

My system is as follows:

Home built Shuttle, with an AMD Athlon64 3500+, 2GB RAM, WD Raptor HDD, Windows Vista Ultimate Edition... etc.
Riffworks is the standard version 2.1.0.2710

Go here for a demo I recorded using the X3L and riffworks:

http://www.rowbinet.co.uk it's one of the latest updates on the homepage, and the POD tones I used are also on my site.

I checked out your website. Very nice pix of your gear. I did notice that the Sonoma link was missing from your links page. =) BTW, I agree about Ibanez - I love mine.

Hi rowbi, you got my vote. Your input at Line 6 is always worthwhile and much appreciated.

FYI, I still don't see the SWW logo on you new and improved site.

okay, you got me again... it's not on the homepage as that just shows you the live gear I use... it's on the links page... come to think of it, I did try to fit in all the manufacturers logos that I use onto the front page but it got too cluttered like my old website.... hence just the live kit :-) anyway check out the front page, there's an update to ong of the updates where I now mention riffworks

Hi Rowbi, Or Anyone that can answer?

I just bought riffworks; I am thoughly dissapointed. I have a couple of questions that you might be able to answer.

1) Let's say I have 4 takes, can I separate the takes, and drag them to their own riff blocks?

2) I would like to play let's say 2 or three riffs at the same time to see how they would blend. Can you only play one riff at a time?

3) I would like to EXPORT the riffs as wav. or mp3 file from the riff format not from the song mode. Can I do that?

If I can't do these 3 things, then as a song writing tool I think it's pretty usless

Best Regards

1. Select the Riff you want and press duplicate.

2. One Riff at a time but up to 24 layers per Riff.

3. Put the Riff you want to export into the Songbar and mix it to wav.

Mike,

just to add something... riffworks is not intended to be a fully featured professional studio recording application... it's really for home and semi pro riffing and looping on your own. I'm not saying its results aren't professional sounding, as they are... but riffworks not trying to compete with logic or something like that!

take your 2nd question. export the riffs to wav's and use a free audio sequencing program called reaper. this will let you demo the riffs side by side, and mute certain ones to your taste... remember this isn't what riffworks is for!

obviously the software's not useless then.....

Regards

Rowbi

gtplayer, sounds like you've been recording with daw's like protools etc. I think once you get used to creating songs piece by piece (intro, verse, bridge, chorus etc.) and build the song start to finish, completely from within Riffworks you'll appreciate how much easier and quicker it is. You don't need to export all the little pieces and try to paste them together using another program. Do a few songs completely in Riffworks.
Mixing is really easy, and the 7 studio effects included are really top quality. Also, you'll find everyone very helpful in these forums. Check out some songs in Rifflink, they're a great source of info on using riffworks.

You are correct; I've been using Sonar 6 Professional. Thank you for all your help. I do realize that it won't compete with a professional DAW. There are just a couple of more things that I wish that it would do though. The reason that I like to export is because I write music with my bother who is in England and I'm in the states. So we are sending parts back and forth, .wav converted to mp3s

Mike, for what you're trying to do it might be best to stick with Sonar, especially if your brother is using something similar and you're sending bits back and forth. RiffWorks can get this job done but will be more difficult in this situation than a DAW. Right tool for the right job :D

Admin,

If I should go back to using Sonar 6 Then can I get a full refund for Riffworks?
