Ideas about how to merge MP3 with Riffs?

I have song for someone's website. They want to do a voice track over the top of the song but are not anywhere near local to me. They can create an MP3 file for me with the voice but can't merge my mp3 with theirs etc..

Could I just patch my PC's mp3 output (line out / spkr out) to the input of my guitar port and then record it over the riffs I have? Would that work?

Ideas? Separate program to merge mp3's?

See if this will work. I haven't tried it and you have to use a wav file instead of mp3.

I'd try using a program like Audacity. It's free, and you can import mp3's as separate tracks without the need to convert to wav first.

You could use Audacity to import the 2 tracks and mix 'em together, or convert the voice MP3 to a wav and use Amit's utility to import it into the songlayer.

Option 2 would give you the whole thing in RiffWorks and would be the best way to go, as you'll have access to the effects you'd want for mixing.
